Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Job Purpose
The Planning Engineer is responsible for developing, monitoring, and updating project schedules to ensure timely completion of construction projects. The role involves coordinating with project teams, tracking progress, analyzing delays, and preparing reports to support effective project control and decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare detailed project schedules using Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project.
Develop baseline programs, resource-loaded schedules, and cash flow forecasts.
Monitor project progress and update schedules on a regular basis.
Identify critical activities and monitor critical path performance.
Analyze project delays and prepare extension of time (EOT) and delay analysis reports when required.
Coordinate with project managers, site engineers, procurement teams, and subcontractors to collect progress data.
Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports, dashboards, and presentations.
Track procurement, material delivery, and subcontractor activities against the project schedule.
Evaluate schedule impacts resulting from variations, design changes, and unforeseen conditions.
Participate in project review meetings and provide planning recommendations.
Ensure compliance with contractual planning and reporting requirements.
Support tender planning activities by preparing tender programs, manpower histograms, and methodology schedules.
Desired Candidate Profile
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
Minimum 3–7 years of experience in construction planning and project controls.
Experience in building, infrastructure, or fit-out projects.
Proficiency in Primavera P6 is essential.
Good knowledge of Microsoft Project, Excel, and project reporting tools.
Understanding of construction methods, sequencing, and project lifecycle.
Skills & Competencies
Strong scheduling and analytical skills.
Knowledge of delay analysis techniques.
Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and contracts.
Excellent communication and coordination skills.
Strong reporting and presentation abilities.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
Attention to detail and problem-solving mindset.
Preferred Experience (UAE/GCC)
Experience working on UAE/GCC construction projects.
Familiarity with FIDIC contracts.
Experience in preparing EOT claims and recovery programs.
