Roles & Responsibilities

Job Profile
The Planning Engineer is responsible for developing, maintaining, and monitoring project schedules for Assets fabrication and clients projects. This role ensures that all project activities are planned, tracked, and reported accurately to support timely project execution, cost control, and resource optimization.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning and Scheduling
  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules using Primavera P6, MS Project, or similar software.
  • Prepare master schedules, baseline plans, and work breakdown structures (WBS) for engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities.
  • Coordinate with project teams to identify critical paths, resource requirements, and interdependencies.
  • Update schedules regularly to reflect project progress, changes, and delays.
Progress Monitoring and Reporting
  • Track project progress against the approved baseline schedule and provide accurate status updates.
  • Generate periodic progress reports, dashboards, and KPI metrics for management review.
  • Highlight potential risks, delays, or bottlenecks and propose corrective actions.
Resource and Cost Coordination
  • Assist in resource planning including manpower, equipment, and materials in coordination with procurement and construction teams.
  • Support project cost control by linking schedule activities to cost accounts and tracking deviations.
Documentation and Systems
  • Maintain all planning and scheduling documentation in compliance with company procedures and client requirements.
  • Utilize ERP systems, project management tools, and electronic document management systems for planning and reporting.
  • Ensure all planning records are auditable and available for internal and client reviews.
Interface and Coordination
  • Coordinate planning activities with engineering, procurement, construction, QA/QC, and commissioning teams.
  • Participate in project review meetings, progress meetings, and interface meetings with clients and subcontractors.
  • Support project risk management by assessing schedule-related risks and recommending mitigation measures.
Project Close-Out
  • Prepare as-built schedules and project completion reports.
  • Support handover of project schedule records to the client or operations team.

Desired Candidate Profile

Qualifications and Experience
Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of planning and scheduling experience in EPC projects within oil & gas, natural gas distribution, utilities, or infrastructure.
  • Experience in Primavera, MS Project and ERP integration is a must and knowledge about Microsoft Dynamics is an advantage.
Skills and Competencies
  • Strong understanding of project planning, scheduling, and controls processes.
  • Knowledge of EPC project execution cycles, resource management, and critical path analysis.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
