Roles & Responsibilities

Job Summary

The Planning Manager is responsible for developing, monitoring, and controlling project schedules to ensure timely completion of construction projects. This role involves coordinating with project teams, managing resources, identifying risks, and ensuring alignment with project objectives, budgets, and timelines.

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning & Scheduling

  • Develop detailed project schedules using tools like Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project

  • Define project scope, milestones, deliverables, and timelines

  • Establish Work Breakdown Structures (WBS)

Progress Monitoring & Reporting

  • Track project progress against baseline schedules

  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports

  • Highlight delays and recommend corrective actions

Resource Planning

  • Plan manpower, materials, and equipment requirements

  • Coordinate with procurement and site teams to ensure availability

Risk Management

  • Identify potential risks and delays

  • Conduct risk analysis and develop mitigation strategies

  • Perform delay analysis (e.g., EOT claims)

Coordination & Communication

  • Liaise with project managers, engineers, consultants, and clients

  • Ensure all stakeholders are aligned with project timelines

  • Participate in project meetings and planning sessions

Cost & Time Control

  • Monitor project performance in terms of cost and time

  • Support budgeting and forecasting activities

  • Analyze variances and implement corrective measures

Claims & Contract Support

  • Assist in preparation of extension of time (EOT) claims

  • Maintain proper documentation for contractual correspondence

Desired Candidate Profile

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field

Experience

  • 8–15 years in construction planning and scheduling

  • Experience in large-scale infrastructure/building projects preferred

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in:

    • Primavera P6

    • Microsoft Project

    • Advanced Excel

  • Strong understanding of construction methodologies and sequencing

Core Competencies

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Strong communication and leadership abilities

  • Attention to detail and time management

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
