Job Description

The Operations Research & Statistics group of the United Arab Emirates University seeks to hire a post-doctoral researcher for a period of 1 year (with a possibility of extension) to start on September 1st, 2023. The post-doctoral researcher is expected to collaborate and assist in an ongoing funded research project on sustainable inventory management. More precisely, the post-doc researcher is expected to model an inventory management problem where the lead time duration is part of the decision making problem, which does not only affect the inventory and transportation cost, but also the environmental impact of the system. The problem needs to be modeled, coded, analyzed, and numerical experiments need to be conducted.

Minimum Qualification

• A PhD in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, Management Science or a related field; - Excellent programming skills (preferably Matlab); - Expertise in mathematical modeling, analysis, and stochastic optimization; - Research experience both in modeling and in applying heuristics and exact solution methods; - Ability to work both independently and within a team; - Good verbal and written communication skills (in English).
