Roles & Responsibilities
Job Summary:
The Principal Wet Utilities Engineer will be leading the planning, design, and management of wet utilities and Hydrology systems for infrastructure projects. This role involves providing technical expertise, managing teams, and ensuring that the solutions are sustainable, cost-effective, and compliant with local, state, and federal regulations.
What You'll be Doing:
- Lead the design and development of the stormwater management systems for transportation, urban development, and infrastructure projects.
- Oversee project timelines, budgets, and deliverables to ensure successful completion.
- Perform hydrological and hydraulic modeling to analyze water flow and drainage patterns.
- Develop innovative solutions to address drainage challenges, including flood mitigation and erosion control.
- Ensure designs comply with environmental regulations, sustainability goals, and industry standards.
- Experienced in BIM for infrastructure and network clash detection/resolution
- Expert in Commercial software (Infoworks ICM, Bentley and Autodesk civil 3D, Esri GIS)
- Experienced with Abu Dhabi ADQCC standards and authorities approvals procedures.
- Experienced in design optimization, Value engineering and Project value improvement.
- Supervise and mentor senior and junior engineers, technicians, and other team members.
- Review and approve technical reports, designs, and calculations prepared by the team.
- Distribute the work efficiently ensuring quality, time commitment and proper team utilization.
- Coordinate with clients, contractors, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure project alignment and compliance.
- Provide technical advice and recommendations during project meetings and public consultations.
- Always maintain internal coordination and interface management between different stakeholders and internal teams.
- Prepare and submit drainage reports, Risks and environmental impact assessments, and permit applications.
- Stay updated on changes in drainage regulations, codes, and best practices.
- Conduct Design review for engineering solutions, design report, drawings, specifications and BOQs.
- Identify and resolve any issues during design, construction supervision and post contract phases.
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
- Bachelor s degree in civil engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field (master s degree preferred).
- 13+ years of experience in wet utility infrastructure design
- Strong communicator with client interfacing skill
- Strong knowledge of Stormwater standards, environmental regulations, and sustainability practices.
- Strong knowledge of UAE design standards for potable water, sewer and Irrigation.
- Strong knowledge in Gas and District cooling design and design standards
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
