Roles & Responsibilities
As a Procurement Engineer, you will be at the forefront of ensuring that our organization's supply chain operations are as efficient and cost-effective as possible. You will play a critical role in sourcing, negotiating, and securing high-quality materials and services necessary for the company's production processes. Your expertise in evaluating suppliers and your solid understanding of the engineering specifications will drive decision-making and help achieve optimal results. Collaborating with the production and engineering teams, you aim to streamline procurement strategies that comply with corporate standards and customer demands. Being strategic and proactive will be essential in ensuring continuous improvement in our procurement processes.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement procurement strategies that align with company goals and objectives.
- Conduct research to discover prospective suppliers and establish partnerships.
- Negotiate contracts with suppliers to secure the best terms and conditions.
- Evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, service, support, availability, and reliability.
- Monitor and forecast the levels of demand for products and services.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to ensure material compliance with specifications.
- Control purchasing costs while ensuring quality and delivery timelines are met.
- Analyze market trends to anticipate reliable shifts in the supply of materials.
- Sustain continual accountability for improving procurement processes and performance metrics.
- Maintain accurate procurement records and prepare reports for management review.
- Implement risk management procedures to mitigate supply chain disruptions.
- Provide training and support to junior procurement staff when necessary.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in procurement or a similar role within an engineering environment.
- Strong negotiation skills with a proven track record in supplier contract management.
- Excellent analytical skills and the ability to strategize cost-effective procurement solutions.
- Ability to understand engineering specifications and translate them into procurement requirements.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse teams.
- Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite knowledge essential.
