Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Context & Environment

Internal:
  • Maintain consistent daily communication regarding all operational and HSSEQ-related activities within the GMU.
  • Oversee and coordinate shift operations on the GMU shop floor to ensure smooth workflow and compliance.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams to ensure alignment on production goals and safety standards.

External:
  • Liaise effectively with the laboratory, maintenance, blending, and logistics departments to support seamless production and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure timely coordination with external support teams to address technical or logistical issues impacting production.
  • Facilitate cross-functional communication to uphold quality and safety standards across departments.

Activities

  • Adhere to all Quality, HSSEQ (Health, Safety & Environment), Energy policies, procedures, and PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) requirements.
  • Promptly report any incidents or hazards to the Production Executive.
  • Operate grease utilities, processing, and filling equipment efficiently and safely.
  • Continuously monitor the work area for potential inefficiencies or risks and suggest improvements.
  • Provide training to new operators and assistants on relevant job functions.
  • Ensure the grease cooking and filling processes are executed according to instructions from the Executive, aligned with the production schedule and HSSEQ standards.
  • Perform minor maintenance tasks independently, such as cleaning strainers and filters.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness on the shop floor.
  • Immediately report any abnormalities to the Production Executive.
Job Related Objectives & Assignments:

Ensure optimum utilization of resources to reach daily Production targets

Ensure that shift operations of GMU are well coordinated to lead to acceptable productivity levels without compromising on HSSEQ requirements.

Train and guide his subordinates adequately for achieving the daily production plans & filling targets

Strict adherence to HSSEQ requirements in GMU works area with full authority to stop any operation or machinery for safety reasons or emergencies.

Candidate Profile

Knowledge:
  • Working knowledge of grease processing & filling equipment
  • Basic knowledge of HSSEQ management systems
  • Basic Knowledge of Energy Management
  • Basic knowledge of lubricants, especially greases
  • Should have working knowledge in the handling and storage of chemicals
  • Knowledge of stock control & recording of daily material usage
  • Must be proficient in the use of emergency equipment such as fire, spill & first aid equipment
  • Should be capable of working independently to a production schedule.

Skills:
  • Team leadership
  • Computer skills
  • Language

Experience:
  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in grease manufacturing or a related petrochemical plant, with a focus on operations and/or maintenance, is essential.
  • Proven ability to perform minor maintenance tasks, including servicing pumps, valves, and filters.
  • Basic computer literacy is preferred, with familiarity in using standard office applications.
  • Practical experience in using fire safety and first aid equipment, such as fire extinguishers, hoses, and first aid kits.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 (Quality Management) and ISO 14001 (Environmental Management) systems, particularly their application on the shop floor.
  • Demonstrated experience in coordinating with operations, laboratory, maintenance teams, and supplier delivery personnel.
  • Possesses basic team leadership capabilities and the ability to guide junior staff when required.

Education:

  • Diploma or technical qualification in any discipline such as Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, with 3-5 years.
