The World Food Programme activities include food assistance for nutrition, livelihoods, relief and emergency school feeding, while also supporting humanitarian air and logistics services, food security coordination and infrastructure rehabilitation projects, also Based on an official request from the Government of Egypt, WFP is providing food assistance to Syrian refugees residing in the greater Cairo area, Alexandria and Damietta through a voucher programme
These jobs are found in Headquarters (HQ), Regional Bureaux (RBs) or Country Offices (COs) and job holders report to a more senior Programme Policy Officer.
Job holders are likely to be working under the close support and guidance of a more experienced professional staff member receiving guidance and regular feedback on work performed. They are typically involved in programme or policy activities or similar nature and analytical work of limited complexity.
To provide support to policy and programme activities that effectively meet food assistance needs.
Education: Advanced University degree in International Affairs, Economics, Nutrition/Health, Agriculture, Environmental Science, Social Sciences or other field relevant to international development assistance, or First University Degree with additional years of related work experience and/or trainings/courses.
Language: Fluency in English & Arabic languages
Required year of experience : At least four years of postgraduate progressively responsible professional experience in international development, or other related fields
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)
• Conduct detailed training on the proposed Livelihoods Program strategy and implementation plan for Syrian Refugees
• Ensure that linkages are made between the small and medium enterprise (SME) development and market linkage programs and the Syrian refugees.
• Ensure that project activities and outputs are implemented in a timely manner.

• To technically mentor and supervise Assistant Food Security Officers working under his supervision as well as carry out Staff performance
• Ensure high quality reports are submitted in a timely manner and work closely with the project officer to ensure reports meet donor requirements.
• Establish transparent relationships with all partners including identification of their priorities, concerns and managing expectations in regard to livelihoods interventions.
• Involve and inform communities and community leaders about the livelihoods activities.
• Break down the annual operational plans into weekly, monthly and quarterly implementation plans.
• Ensure that procurement, development and distribution of materials and equipment are timely and according to procedures.
• To assist the project manager in the identification of new projects and new areas of intervention. Coordinate trainings for women empowerment, including trainings on food processing and micro-credit activities as part of the livelihood activities.

Desired Candidate Profile

Transfer Modalities (Food, Cash, Voucher)
Demonstrates ability to analyse and consolidate quantitative and qualitative information from different sources (e.g., market studies) to inform transfer modality selection and programme development.
Broad Knowledge of Specialized areas (i.e. Nutrition, VAM, etc.)
Demonstrates the ability to interpret basic data in the context of WFP specialised fields to contribute to technical programme design, implementation and monitoring.
Emergency Programming
Displays capacity to provide inputs into the development, implementation and realignment of high quality emergency programmes.
Strategic Policy Engagement w/ Government
Develops thorough recommendations using multiple inputs (e.g., government counsel, research, own experience) to strengthen national or subnational entities and government owned food and nutrition security programmes.
Has gained experience in implementing technical programs (i.e. nutrition, etc.).
Has implemented programmes and provided input into designing operations.
Has provided input into policy discussions and decisions.
This position is a Special Service Agreement contract, in which the intended purpose is to provide expeditious recruitment of individuals who can supply services on short-term basis not exceeding eleven (11) months.
Extension of contract is subject to 3 months break in service and based on the Business need for the position
