Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Project Planning & Execution:
Develop detailed project plans, work schedules, and resource allocation to ensure timely and efficient project execution in the shipyard.
Coordinate with the design team to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and project specifications.
Oversee on-site activities, including the installation of new equipment, piping, and structural modifications.
Manage and coordinate all subcontractors and vendors involved in the project. - Technical & Quality Assurance:
Serve as the primary technical point of contact for the project, troubleshooting and resolving any engineering or on-site issues.
Conduct regular inspections to ensure all work meets the highest quality standards and complies with the project's scope of work.
Liaise with Class surveyors and client representatives to ensure all work is approved and documented correctly. - Safety & Compliance:
Ensure strict adherence to all safety, health, and environmental regulations within the shipyard and onboard the vessel.
Conduct risk assessments and toolbox talks to maintain a safe working environment. - Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain accurate project documentation, including progress reports, timesheets, material requisitions, and final project closeout reports.
Prepare and submit regular status reports to the Project Manager and clients, highlighting progress, potential delays, and cost implications. - Stakeholder Management:
Communicate proactively with clients, shipyard staff, and internal teams to manage expectations and ensure seamless project delivery.
Desired Candidate Profile
- Education: A Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related field.
- Experience:
A minimum of 5-7 years of proven experience in project engineering or a similar role within the marine, shipbuilding, or ship repair industry.
Prior experience with vessel retrofits, specifically for BWTS or scrubbers, is highly desirable.
Sailing experience with a Seaman's book is a significant advantage. - Technical Skills:
Strong knowledge of vessel systems, including engines, piping, and mechanical components.
Familiarity with international maritime regulations (IMO, MARPOL) and the rules of major Classification Societies (DNV, ABS, LR, etc.).
Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project) and CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD). - General Skills:
Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Ability to work under pressure in a dynamic, high-stakes environment.
