Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
We are recruiting QA/QC Engineers for pressure vessels and skid fabrication requires a specific set of academic, professional, and technical qualifications. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in relevant industry standards (ASME, API, ISO) and practical experience in a heavy fabrication environment.
Qualifications for QA/QC Engineer (Pressure Vessels & Skid Fabrication)
Educational Background:
- Required: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Metallurgical Engineering.
- Preferred: A degree from an accredited institution, potentially supplemented by specialized quality management training or certifications.
Professional Experience:
- Minimum Experience: 3-5 years of experience in a leading QA/QC role, specifically within an industrial, manufacturing, or oil and gas environment focused on heavy fabrication.
- Specialized Experience:
- Proven experience in the fabrication, inspection, and testing of pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and skid-mounted equipment.
- Experience in the preparation of Project Quality Plans (PQPs), Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), and final QA/QC documentation dossiers.
- Experience in conducting receiving inspections, in-process inspections, and final inspections.
- Experience with client/third-party inspector (TPI) coordination and managing quality-related issues.
Technical Skills and Certifications:
- Standards & Codes (Mandatory Knowledge): In-depth knowledge and practical experience with international codes and standards, including:
- ASME Section VIII (Pressure Vessels) and ASME Section IX (Welding and Brazing Qualifications).
- API 510 (Pressure Vessel Inspection Code), API 650/653 (Storage Tanks), and relevant API standards for oil and gas applications.
- Quality Management Systems (QMS), including experience in internal/external audits and maintaining QMS procedures.
- Familiarity with other relevant standards such as ASTM, NACE (corrosion), and AWS is beneficial.
- NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) Certifications (Preferred):
- ASNT Level II certification in multiple NDT methods (e.g., Radiographic Testing (RT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), and Penetrant Testing (PT)).
- Welding Expertise:
- Ability to prepare /review/ approve Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and Welder Performance Qualification records (WPQR).
- Preferred: CSWIP 3.1 Welding Inspector certification or equivalent.
- Experience with various welding processes (GTAW, SMAW, SAW,FCAW, GMAW,) and materials (carbon steel, stainless steel, alloys).
Key Competencies and Skills:
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, particularly in identifying and resolving non-conformities.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) for reporting, documentation, and coordinating with cross-functional teams, clients, and vendors.
- Proficiency in technical writing for procedures and reports.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills for document control and record-keeping.
- Ability to work independently and manage inspection activities effectively under pressure.
