Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
The Quality Control Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all LIFECO products—including clean agent systems, valves, sprinklers, fire pumps, extinguishers, hose reels, cabinets, alarm systems, accessories, and all other fire-protection equipment—meet company standards, international approvals, and client expectations.
The role includes inspection of all incoming materials, in-process checks, final product inspections, documentation control, and coordination with multiple departments. This position requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to quality assurance and continuous improvement across the entire product range.
Key Responsibilities:
1. QC of Incoming Materials & Components
- Inspect and verify all incoming materials including:
Valves, pumps, cylinders, extinguishers, sprinklers, hose reels, cabinets, pipes, fittings, electrical panels, detectors, modules, and all accessories. - Compare delivered items against approved drawings, datasheets, standards, and purchase orders.
- Identify, isolate, and report non-conforming materials through NCR procedures.
- Coordinate with suppliers and procurement for material replacement or corrective action.
2. In-Process Inspection
- Conduct quality checks during production, assembly, fabrication, filling, and packaging processes.
- Verify correct assembly of:
- Valves (OS&Y, NRS, Butterfly, Check, Strainer)
- Sprinklers & accessories
- Fire extinguishers
- Clean agent systems
- Fire hose reels and cabinets
- Pump components and skids
- Fire alarm components (panels, modules, detectors)
- Ensure production follows SOPs, approved BOMs, and engineering documents.
3. Final Inspection & Testing
- Perform final QC approval before products are sent to warehouse or customer.
- Conduct functional and routine tests such as:
- Pressure testing (as applicable)
- Leakage testing
- Weight verification
- Flow checks
- Electrical continuity checks
- Visual and dimensional inspections
- Ensure all labels, tags, nameplates, serial numbers, and documentation are correct and compliant.
4. Documentation, Records & Traceability
- Prepare and maintain inspection reports, checklists, NCRs, and batch records.
- Ensure proper traceability of all LIFECO products through serial numbers, heat numbers, batch numbers, and job references.
- Maintain QC documents for internal and external audits (UL, FM, LPCB, KM, Civil Defense, customer audits).
- Ensure packing lists, QC release notes, and product certificates are accurate.
5. Coordination With Internal Departments
- Work closely with:
- Production for process improvements and defect reduction
- Warehouse for proper segregation of accepted and rejected items
- Engineering for technical clarifications
- Procurement for supplier quality issues
- Sales for customer inspection reports and complaint analysis
- Participate in daily/weekly production and quality meetings.
6. Compliance, Audits & Continuous Improvement
- Ensure adherence to internal QA/QC procedures, HSE policies, and international standards such as UL, FM, LPCB, EN, BS, and NFPA.
- Support internal and external audits by providing required QC documents.
- Raise and follow up on CAPA (Corrective & Preventive Actions).
- Suggest improvements in SOPs, inspection tools, and QC processes to enhance product reliability.
Desired Candidate Profile
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering.
Experience:
Minimum 2–4 years QC experience in:
- Fire protection equipment manufacturing
- Mechanical equipment QC
- Industrial fabrication
- Gas systems or pressure equipment (advantage)
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of fire-protection equipment (valves, pumps, cylinders, sprinklers, extinguishers, cabinets, alarms).
- Experience in inspection, testing, and documentation.
- Understanding of UL, FM, LPCB, EN, and Civil Defense requirements.
- Knowledge of HSE and industrial safety requirements.
- Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word).
- Strong analytical, reporting, and communication skills.
Other Requirements:
- UAE Driving License preferred.
- Physically fit for industrial work environment.
- Able to work on-site in production and warehouse areas.
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
