JOB PURPOSE :
a. To perform Quality Control in-process and final product testing in a timely manner, and maintain all equipment and records to perform this accurately and reliably and to ISO and in-company standards.
b. To record & analyse improvements in product robustness to meet Quality & Continous improvement KPIs such as RFT, eliminate substandard products and to target Zero waste.
c. Customer support by analysing technical complaints using 8D global complaint analysis tool, product development samples including colour matching using X rite Global colour matching tool & relifing products.

3. PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:
The following list is not exhaustive and other duties and responsibilities of a similar nature may be required:
a. To ensure that all Quality Control samples are tested promptly and accurately in accordance with specified procedures, and the results communicated clearly to the plants, with guidance for batch adjustments where appropriate.
b. To assist in acheiving Quality KPIs such as RFT by optimising formulations via M3 to acheive Operational excellence, eliminate substandards, target zero waste & contribute towards Lean savings.
c. To maintain a high standard of Responsible Care and housekeeping at SBME lab consistent with all applicable Company and legislative requirements (e.g. COSHH, HSE, IPPC).
d. Support SBME product development activities including gelcoats and pigment paste range using visual and X rite computer skills to produce a satisfactory colour match to customer samples and company sales range.
e. To assist evaluation of customer complaints using 8D Group compliance system. To liaise with Technical, Quality and Operations to evaluate the root cause, suggest corrective actions and preventive actions to minimize quality issues.
f. To actively participate within site wide Process Improvement activities identifying common causes for product failure and making suggestions for possible solutions. Capturing internal non conformance data and saftey opportunities in Q Pulse QMS CAPA software.
g. To deputise for the Shift Team Leader as required and, in their absence, act as advisor on product batch adjustments in the manufacturing plants (e.g. processing, testing)
h. To ensure all necessary tasks are completed so that all test results, retain samples and test pieces are accurately documented and archived, in accordance with ISO procedures
i. To carry out shelf life retesting, inspection on returned goods, and testing on in bound raw materials or Toll Manufactured Products.
j. To ensure that all instruments within QC control are checked for accuracy to the agreed timescales and where necessary action taken.
k. To ensure that test chemicals are prepared and standardised for use in all areas, and to highlight any changes in test procedures and ensure standard methods are up to date.
To perform any other tasks reasonably requested to meet team and business objectives.
a. Minimum 3 years lab experience working in a chemical environment.
b. Quality conscious and methodical approach to work, with excellent attention to detail.
c. Ability to work independently and communicate effectively at all levels to all stakeholders at SBME.
d. PC and Internet proficient, able to use a variety of computer packages.
e. Certified First Aider & HSE awareness.
