Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and budgets for construction projects, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress and assess the financial implications of any changes or issues.
- Manage and negotiate contracts with suppliers and subcontractors to secure the best value for the project.
- Perform risk assessments to identify potential financial risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Prepare tender documents, including bill of quantities, to assist in the bidding process for contractors.
- Analyze project specifications and drawings to provide accurate quantity take-offs and cost projections.
- Advise on procurement strategies to optimize project costs while maintaining quality and timelines.
- Prepare interim and final valuations for work completed, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations.
- Utilize cost management software to track expenditures and provide real-time financial reporting.
- Collaborate closely with architects, engineers, and project managers to ensure alignment on project goals and budgets.
Desired Candidate Profile
- Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field, with a strong foundation in construction principles.
- Professional membership with recognized institutions like RICS or CIQS is highly desirable.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of relevant experience in quantity surveying within the construction industry.
- Proven track record of managing diverse projects, from residential to commercial developments.
- Proficiency in cost estimation software and advanced Excel skills to streamline budgeting processes.
- Strong knowledge of construction contracts, cost control methods, and risk management practices.
- Exceptional analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex drawings and specifications.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively liaise with stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented mindset, with strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Cultural awareness and language proficiency in English; additional languages are an asset.
