Roles & Responsibilities


Position Objective:

The main purpose of the role of Quantity Surveyor Manager is to ensure efficient and strategic commercial leadership and oversight of all quantity surveying functions across large-scale infrastructure projects, ensuring effective cost management, contractual compliance, and budgetary control. The Quantity Surveyor Manager plays a key role in maximizing project value, minimizing financial risk, and supporting the timely and cost-effective delivery of infrastructure works, while maintaining strong relationships with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies, and promoting industry best practices within the project team.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage all aspects of quantity surveying, cost planning, and commercial reporting across multiple projects.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates, budgets, and cash flow projections in alignment with project timelines.
  • Administer and manage contracts, including tendering, contract negotiation, variations, and claims.
  • Ensure accurate valuation of works, preparation of interim applications, and final accounts.
  • Monitor project expenditures and provide monthly cost/value reconciliation and forecasting reports.
  • Coordinate with project managers, consultants, and contractors to ensure timely procurement and financial controls.
  • Identify commercial risks and develop mitigation strategies to safeguard the project’s financial interests.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legal, contractual, and regulatory standards, including FIDIC or other applicable frameworks.
  • Support senior leadership with commercial insights, reporting, and strategic recommendations.
  • Mentor and supervise junior quantity surveyors, ensuring adherence to best practices and continuous development.

Key Skills and Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field (Professional accreditation such as MRICS is preferred).
  • Minimum of 8–10 years’ experience in quantity surveying, with at least 3 years in a managerial or leadership capacity.
  • Proven experience in managing commercial aspects of mid- to large-scale construction projects.
  • Strong knowledge of construction contracts, procurement strategies, and cost control methodologies.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and quantity surveying software (e.g., Candy, CostX, or similar platforms).
  • Excellent negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Strategic cost planning and financial acumen, Contract administration and commercial risk management
