Roles & Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our main contracting team in the UAE. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing all commercial aspects of large-scale construction projects from inception to completion. This role requires exceptional expertise in both pre-contract (tendering, procurement) and post-contract (cost management, variations) stages, and a strong understanding of FIDIC contracts.

Desired Candidate Profile

Pre-Contract Stage

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates, budgets, and cost plans based on comprehensive review of architectural, structural, and MEP plans for tenders.
  • Develop complete tender documents, including Bills of Quantities (BOQs) and specifications, to support the tendering process.
  • Engage in the procurement process, conducting thorough bid evaluations, and preparing clear recommendations for management to ensure value for money.
  • Draft and negotiate robust sub-contractor and supplier agreements that protect the company’s commercial interests.
  • Participate in pre-bid queries and tender settlement meetings to align on project milestones and commercial terms with clients and consultants.

Post-Contract Stage

  • Conduct comprehensive cost monitoring and control throughout the project life cycle, preparing regular financial reports and cash flow forecasts for senior management.
  • Perform accurate monthly interim payment valuations for sub-contractors and certify payments in accordance with contractual terms.
  • Manage the process of variation orders and claims, including measurement, valuation, and negotiation with clients and consultants to protect the company’s financial position.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers and site engineers to ensure precise quantity take-offs, site measurements, and reporting of progress.
  • Negotiate and settle final accounts with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers in a timely and professional manner.
  • Participate in site meetings, providing expert commercial and contractual advice to the project team.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying or Civil Engineering from a recognized institution.

Experience: A minimum of 5–7 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor with a main contractor in the UAE/GCC is essential. Experience on high-rise residential or large-scale commercial projects is a strong advantage.

Technical Skills:Strong proficiency in cost estimation and quantity take-off software.
Expert-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel for advanced data analysis and reporting.
Solid working knowledge of FIDIC contracts and UAE construction law.
