Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive prenatal care, ensuring that expectant mothers receive personalized health assessments and education tailored to their individual needs.
- Assist during labor and delivery, utilizing advanced techniques to manage pain and ensure a safe, positive birth experience for both mother and child.
- Perform routine assessments of newborns, including APGAR scoring, to quickly identify any health concerns that may require immediate attention.
- Educate families about postpartum care, emphasizing the importance of recovery and mental health support during the transition to parenthood.
- Develop individualized care plans in collaboration with obstetricians and other healthcare professionals to address complex maternity cases.
- Conduct home visits for postnatal check-ups, providing vital support and resources to families in their own environment.
- Advocate for the rights and preferences of mothers, ensuring their voices are heard in care decisions and birthing plans.
- Stay updated on current evidence-based practices in midwifery, integrating new research findings into patient care.
- Manage documentation and maintain accurate medical records to comply with regulatory standards and ensure continuity of care.
- Participate in community outreach programs, educating the public about maternal health and the role of midwifery in the healthcare system.
Desired Candidate Profile
- Registered Midwife with a Bachelor’s degree in Midwifery from an accredited institution, ensuring a strong foundational knowledge.
- Possession of a current license to practice midwifery, demonstrating compliance with national and state regulations.
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience in a clinical maternity setting, showcasing a proven track record of successful patient outcomes.
- Certification in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) to handle emergencies effectively.
- Fluency in English, with proficiency in a second language preferred to communicate with diverse patient populations.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build trusting relationships with patients and their families during sensitive times.
- Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple cases and maintain meticulous records under pressure.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team, promoting a cohesive approach to patient care.
- Cultural competence to provide respectful care that acknowledges and honors diverse backgrounds and beliefs.
- Physical stamina and resilience to handle the demands of labor and delivery, including long hours and emergency situations.
