Valaris is recruiting for the following position on behalf of ARO Drilling, a 50/50 joint venture between Valaris and Saudi Aramco that owns and operates jack-up drilling rigs in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA).
Job Summary
Responsible to manage the safe and efficient operation of one or more offshore drilling rigs.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
• Monitors daily operations on assigned rigs to ensure execution of the well plan
• Manages deviations from the well plan (e.g. equipment problems, well difficulties, weather, etc.) and implements solutions to recover
• Leads planning effort for upcoming wells with internal departments or external parties, including:
•BOP analysis and certification with 3 rd -party vendor
•Well control review with Operations management and Corporate Engineering
•Communicates regularly with client regarding progress on well plan, addresses concerns or issues to ensure client satisfaction
•Coordinates resolution of downtime issues with Maintenance department resources
•Coordinates with Maintenance department to plan and schedule large-scale maintenance projects and regulatory inspections
•Ensures application of ARO Drilling Safety Management Systems
•Ensures implementation of all corporate initiatives and programs on assigned rigs (e.g. preventative maintenance programs or other automation initiatives, employee performance management programs, IT improvements, Supply Chain procedures)
•Monitors supply chain of materials to ensure that inventory is maintained within allowable limits
•Oversees all HR-related issues on rig, including disciplinary actions and investigations, crew movements (promotions, transfers, terminations, etc.) Resolves issues with support of HRBP

Oil & Gas / Petroleum

Desired Candidate Profile

Required experience can include 10 years of progressively responsible
experience in rig-based operations roles (e.g. Driller, Toolpusher, O.I.M.) or
5-10 years working in an onshore drilling operations role (e.g. Engineer
Operations, Asst. to Manager Operations, Rig Asset Manager (RAM)
Education, Training, Licenses and/or Certifications
Bachelor s degree in Engineering or related field preferred; requirement
can be offset by equivalent combination of education and experience
