Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
- Plan and execute rigging operations with precision to ensure the safety and efficiency of lifting heavy equipment and materials.
- Select appropriate rigging equipment such as slings, shackles, and hoists based on load specifications and environmental conditions.
- Conduct thorough inspections of rigging gear to identify any wear or defects before use, maintaining compliance with safety standards.
- Coordinate with crane operators and ground crew to communicate load movements clearly and effectively during lifting operations.
- Prepare and maintain rigging layouts, ensuring all equipment is arranged and secured to maximize safety and minimize hazards.
- Implement safety protocols and emergency response procedures to mitigate risks during rigging activities.
- Document all rigging activities, including inspections and maintenance records, to ensure accountability and traceability.
- Provide training and guidance to junior riggers and laborers on best practices and safety regulations in rigging operations.
- Participate in safety meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the rigging team.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to promote safety and efficiency during rigging projects.
Desired Candidate Profile
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in rigging or a related field is a plus.
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on rigging experience in construction, manufacturing, or maritime environments.
- Certification in rigging techniques, such as NCCCO (National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators) or equivalent, is required.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and rigging schematics.
- Strong understanding of weight distribution, load calculations, and rigging hardware specifications.
- Ability to communicate effectively with team members and follow verbal and written instructions in English.
- Must possess physical stamina and strength to handle heavy equipment and perform rigorous tasks in various environments.
- Safety-conscious mindset with a commitment to following regulations and protocols at all times.
- Flexibility to work in various weather conditions and at heights, ensuring adaptability in dynamic environments.
- A team player with strong problem-solving skills, able to remain calm and focused under pressure.
