Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate rigging activities, including setup, inspection, and execution of lifts.
  • Plan and organize lifting operations based on load charts, lifting plans, and risk assessments.
  • Ensure all rigging work complies with relevant safety standards (e.g., OSHA, LOLER, ASME, API, or company-specific requirements).
  • Conduct pre-lift meetings and toolbox talks to communicate safety precautions and work procedures.
  • Inspect rigging gear (slings, shackles, chains, spreader bars, etc.) to ensure it is certified and in good condition.
  • Liaise with crane operators, lifting engineers, and site supervisors to coordinate lifts safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate records of lifting equipment inspections, certifications, and rigging logs.
  • Identify potential hazards and take corrective actions to mitigate risks.
  • Train and mentor rigging personnel on safe lifting practices and proper rigging techniques.
  • Report incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions promptly to site management.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in rigging or lifting operations preferred.
  • Minimum 5–8 years of experience in rigging, including at least 2–3 years in a supervisory role.
  • Valid rigging/lifting certification (e.g., NCCCO, OPITO, LEEA, or equivalent).
  • Strong understanding of rigging principles, load calculations, and lifting plans.
  • Knowledge of cranes, hoists, winches, and related lifting equipment.
  • Familiarity with safety management systems and permit-to-work procedures.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
