Engage every customer within 5-10 seconds of entering the store with proactive greeting / acknowledgement.
Understand and demonstrate customer care e.g. proactively offer assistance in what they are looking for and interest them in buying the merchandise.
Take ownership of and deal effectively with customer queries/requests and complaints, in person and over the telephone.
Obtain knowledge of products.
Demonstrate selling skills; show various styles, colours and usage of a product.
Ensure coverage of fitting rooms at all times and recognize importance of selling in the fitting room.
Seek management support for handling challenging customer situations.
Know weekly and monthly store targets and strive to achieve all targets set for the store.
Engage customers to increase units per transaction and maximize average customer purchase.
Maintain the stock (product) available in the store.
Minimize shrinkage in line with the targets and be aware of potential areas of shrinkage in your area/department.
Eliminate stock losses and minimize product damage.
Be alert to identify potential theft.
Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
Attend and contribute at meetings.
Ensure control of expenses and wasteful practices.
Perform general floor maintenance and housekeeping and keep the store areas tidy.
Maintain knowledge of sales & promotions, policies regarding payment & exchanges and security practices.
Report any price inconsistencies in product to the concerned supervisor/manager.
Tagging and displaying new merchandise on the floor.
Handle exchange and return of merchandise.
If required to be involved in stock-take of your store or any other store assigned to you.
Merchandising and Visual Merchandising.
Ensure brand standards are in place and merchandising principles are always adhered.
Receive and display merchandise in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Recognize and report circumstances that require the attention of your supervisor/manager.
Ensure all security policies and procedures are adhered to.
Watch for and recognize security risks and thefts, and know how to prevent or handle these situations.
Any cash shortage / missing credit card slips / unsigned credit card slips etc. needs to be brought to the attention of the store manager immediately.
Participate in teamwork with other store staff to ensure achievement of Department/Store goals.
Share knowledge and skills for the benefit of team members.
Understand team member’s roles.
Give and receive feedback to improve the team.
Participate in the communication forum.
Understand the environment and structure of business, including own contribution to business performance.
Be aware of what is happening in the environment e.g. – Who are the competitors and what they are doing.
