Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
This unit plays a vital role in optimising respiratory care, reducing ICU burden, and supporting recovery through specialised nursing and multidisciplinary collaboration.
Respiratory Unit at our client hospital in Riyadh, is a specialised Acute Respiratory Unit designed for patients with severe respiratory conditions requiring close monitoring and advanced respiratory support. It bridges the gap between ICU-level care and general ward management.
Capacity & Structure
Dedicated beds for adult patients with respiratory compromise
Equipped with advanced respiratory monitoring systems
Provides intermediate-level care for patients stabilised from ICU or requiring escalation from general wards
Patient Population
Acute exacerbations of COPD or asthma
Pneumonia and severe respiratory infections
Post-thoracic surgery patients
Patients requiring:
High-flow oxygen therapy
Non-invasive ventilation (CPAP/BiPAP)
Frequent respiratory assessments
Key Services & Nursing Interventions
Continuous oxygen saturation and vital sign monitoring
Non-invasive ventilation setup and management
Airway clearance techniques and nebulisation therapy
Chest physiotherapy coordination
IV medication and antibiotic administration
Early mobilisation and discharge planning
Nursing Model
Staffing: Nurse Manager, Clinical Resource Nurse, Nurse Coordinator, Staff Nurses, Patient Care Technicians
Care Model: Total Patient Care with emphasis on respiratory stability, infection prevention, and patient education
