The purpose of this position is to develop, maintain and communicate everything related to project schedule and progress. These activities will cover multiple large international contractors, consultants and a large team with individual deliverables all focused on timely completion of the project.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Develop and update the overall integrated project schedule comprising of various disciplines, including IT, Operations, Engineering, civil works, equipment delivery
2. Work with the project manager to develop and maintain the Programme Strategic Schedule and manage the coordination of schedules at project level assuring alignment and integration Forecast delays on the critical path based on input received from various contractors
3. Provide weekly and monthly project progress reporting. The reporting shall summarize variance against the baselines highlighting reasons for deviations from the plan.
4. Provide details of requirements for insertion into contract documents, explaining the obligations of the contractors in context of progress reporting and structure. Work with the project team to ensure that the contractors fulfil their obligations of providing progress information.
5. Instruct contractors to accelerate or delay activities to the benefit of the overall completion date
6. Identify what elements in the project program of contractors are short of construction resources and actively work with contractors to resolve
7. Set-up and Maintain a structured filing system with regards to schedule management
8. Identify contractor dependencies and schedule clashes with regards to work area or contractor output dependencies
9. Work closely with the authorities program management to ensure civil works program are in line with company contractors
Education: Engineering degree is preferred. Relevant training courses in project program management. Training courses in the use of project scheduling tools such as Primavera.
Experience: At least 5 years experience working as a project planner/scheduler in large industrial projects.
Knowledge/ Skills: In depth knowledge of construction sequence of large industrial projects. Experience in multiple construction disciplines, including civil works, MEP works, IT system commissioning and testing. Specific port or container terminal experience is a strong plus.
Languages: Fluent in English, speaking reading and writing.
Arabic is preferred and any additional languages would be deemed an advantage.
