Direct Manager: MM&W Manager

Working Relationships (internal):
• To lead Workshop Mechanical Maintenance Team
• Support Departmental Manger Mechanical Maintenance & Workshop.
• Support Mechanical teams of Rolling Mills, Steel Making Plant, DR Plant during shutdowns & major breakdowns
• Coordination with Procurement & Warehouse; HR

Working Relationships (external)
• As required

General Summary
Providing coordination, engineering advice and front-line technical support to Work shop teams for the repair, overhaul and major repair activities as well as during unscheduled major breakdown of all related equipment in the integrated steel plant.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Leadership and Supervision:
• Develop a highly competent and motivated work force, Prepare staff reports, task and Targets, development plan, training and leave schedules.
• Prepare maintenance plans for all mechanical equipments of Workshop Section in coordination with the planning section.
• To lead, develop, train and evaluate Workshop Section (instruction and guidance to Supervisor, Sr. Technician & Technician)
• Ensure relevant maintenance support to all the section of Mechanical Maintenance.
• Ensure all the jobs assigned to workshop executed as planned.
• To lead Workshop Mechanical maintenance team (instruction and guidance to Supervisor, Sr. Technician & Technician)
Budgeting & Costing:
• Responsible for preparing & proposing accurate annual budgets for management approval to implement the operational plan effectively and managing maintenance activities within the allocated budgetary provisions to ensure cost effectiveness.
Planning for Contingency:
• Responsible for planning and execution of scheduled corrective maintenance and major repairs to optimise production & reduce downtime.
• Responsible for trouble shooting during corrective maintenance activities of all related equipments.
Manage Delivery Targets:
• Manage Workshop section resources and activities and ensure deliveries are met according to agreed tasks and targets in a professional, responsible and cost effective manner.
• Responsible for all overhauling & repairs of equipments performed by Workshop crew.
• Responsible for all sheet metal, fabrication & welding jobs performed by the workshop crew.
• Responsible for management of Tool & equipment store & calibration of measuring instrument.
Safety, Quality & Environment:
• To follow all relevant safety, quality, health and environmental management policies, procedures & also ensure awareness about these in his staff, comply with Audit requirements related to Workshop.
Policies and Procedural Implementation:
• Ensure that all mechanical equipments of Workshop Section are inspected, maintained or overhauled in a safe, efficient and cost effective manner, according to best maintenance philosophies, procedures and practices.

Minimum Education Qualifications (Must Haves)
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering from recognised university
Any preferred professional training (Nice to have)
• Effective communication skill.
• Knowledge of IT (MS - Office) & SAP (Plant Maintenance & Material Management).
• Knowledge & Experience of CBM / RCM / TPM.
• Knowledge of repair inspection techniques, assembly limits-fits & tolerances, alignment limits for critical industrial equipment including all rotary & reciprocating machines, mechanical power transmission devices.
• Knowledge of ISO 9000 / 14000 and OHSAS 18000 standard

Professional Experience (Must haves)
• About 6-8 years of experience in Steel Plant Mechanical Maintenance as Head Mechanical or equivalent (Fabrication and Major repairs & overhauling)
• 5 Years in a Management Position
• 3-4 Years in implementation of engineering principles

• Resource Job Compliance Planning’ for cost for repairs, maintenance and downtime against. specified targets.
• Lead corrective action’ for prompt clarification, resolutions and results of problems.
• Rectification of reviewed equipment with ‘smooth transition and production.

• Organizational support- follows policies and procedures; completes administrative tasks correctly and on time; supports organizations goals and values; supports affirmative action and respects diversity.

• Working environment – shop floor environment
• Working at heights
• Working Hours from 8.00 A.M till 4.00 P.M (Excess hours as required by company policy)
• Working days from Sunday till Thursday
