Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
A Senior Accountant plays a pivotal role in the financial health and integrity of an organization. This position involves a high level of responsibility and requires someone experienced and diligent to oversee key financial operations. As a senior accountant, you will prepare and maintain financial reports and records, ensure compliance with legal guidelines and accounting principles, and collaborate with other departments to support company initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong grasp of accounting principles, exceptional analytical skills, and the ability to communicate financial information clearly and effectively. In this role, you will report directly to the financial director or chief financial officer, providing valuable insights and recommendations to inform financial strategies. With the increasing complexities of financial regulations, the Senior Accountant is vital in ensuring transparent and accurate financial reporting and providing strategic support to the management team.
Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with company policies.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement.
- Ensure all financial transactions are recorded accurately and timely in the general ledger.
- Lead the month-end and year-end close processes to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Collaborate with external auditors to ensure successful audit outcomes and compliance.
- Develop and implement accounting procedures and best practices to enhance efficiency.
- Monitor and enforce internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure data integrity.
- Prepare budgets, forecasts, and financial models to aid in business planning and decision making.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior accounting staff and other team members.
- Maintain current knowledge of changes in accounting standards and regulations.
- Communicate effectively with management to provide updates on financial performance and forecasts.
- Assess financial operations and recommend improvements to maximize efficiencies and reduce costs.
Requirements
- Bachelor s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
- CPA or CMA certification preferred, highlighting professional expertise and commitment.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Proficiency in accounting software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret financial data.
- Excellent communication abilities to convey complex information succinctly.
- Strong organizational skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet deadlines.
- Experience in managing internal audits and liaising with external auditors.
