The Senior Communications Officer will serve as the liaison to the media, collector of documentary content about the mission, and in-house resource for information.
The post-holder will be responsible for collecting, packaging and conveying information about International Medical Corps Lebanon s work and impact to a variety of stakeholders and audiences, including international and local media, existing and potential donors, and the general public.
The Senior Communications Officer will serve as the Lebanon team s primary coordinator for media and VIPs/donors visiting the programs. He/she is responsible for gathering and disseminating content - including photos, videos, and stories to be used for promotional purposes and fundraising via printed materials, as well as online and broadcast mediums.
The Senior Communications Officer is also responsible for generating awareness locally by increasing and managing International Medical Corps Lebanon s visibility and branding and liaising with local communications counterparts.
The post-holder will work with International Medical Corps program, monitoring and evaluation, technical unit and logistics/procurement teams in country and in close coordination with the International Medical Corps global communications team at headquarters, which is responsible for approval of communications and messaging for the Agency, in order to complete the following specific tasks:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Senior Communications Officer will:
Serve as the focal point for the design and implementation of IMC Lebanon s Communication and Visibility plan and strategy.
Proactively network with journalists in the field, including coordinating interviews and prepping staff
Pitch International Medical Corps staff, stories, and notable developments or achievements to the news media
Manage messaging for external parties, including talking points, media kits, and other materials
Plan, coordinate, and host field visits made by international and local media, partners, donors, VIPs, and other interested parties
Produce success stories, human interest stories, and other relevant materials that help demonstrate successful impact of International Medical Corps Lebanon programs
Document International Medical Corps activities and program achievements through photography, video, and written stories for use on the Agency s website, in fundraising appeals, by external news outlets and content partners, in press releases, marketing materials and similar
Help prepare talking points and other information for field and headquarters use
Manage International Medical Corps Lebanon visibility and branding efforts
Network with communications groups and infrastructures in Lebanon as needed
Develop public relations, marketing and communications strategies and budgets for International Medical Corps programs in Lebanon
Develop brochures and other publications and materials for publicity use, as needed
Assist field staff with editing reports, making them visually more attractive
Preform and oversee other duties as assigned
