Senior Data Platform Architect

Job Summary

We are seeking a strategic, results-driven Senior Data Platform Architect and Enterprise Database Expert with 15+ years of experience to lead, architect, and manage our mission-critical data infrastructure. This hybrid role spans the entire data lifecycle across Big Data ecosystems, traditional relational databases, and NoSQL environments.

The ideal candidate will design high-availability environments, implement advanced security protocols including encryption, masking, and access control, and spearhead zero-downtime database migrations within highly regulated banking or government frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

Big Data Platform Architecture and Administration

  • Deploy, optimize, and maintain Cloudera CDH and CDP multi-node production clusters.

  • Manage and scale components including Hive, Impala, HDFS, YARN, HBase, Hue, NiFi, and Spark 3.

  • Architect and deploy modern Cloudera ECS Data Services including Cloudera Data Warehouse and Cloudera Machine Learning.

  • Lead major platform upgrades from legacy environments to modern Cloudera platforms with minimal risk.

  • Build data integration pipelines connecting Microsoft SQL Server via PolyBase to Hive and Impala.

Enterprise Oracle and Relational Database Management

  • Lead full lifecycle administration of Oracle databases from version 11g through 23c.

  • Design and manage Oracle RAC and Extended RAC environments for maximum performance and fault tolerance.

  • Configure and support complex Oracle GoldenGate topologies including uni-directional, bi-directional, and hub-and-spoke architectures featuring table schema mapping and data transformations.

  • Execute seamless migrations of high-volume government and banking workloads from legacy hardware to modern Oracle Exadata platforms.

  • Ensure high availability for SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MySQL databases.

NoSQL and Event Streaming Operations

  • Scale NoSQL environments using MongoDB administration techniques such as sharding and replica sets.

  • Implement, configure, and secure high-availability Kafka clusters.

Security, Compliance and Governance

  • Enforce platform hardening and technical controls aligned with CIS benchmarks.

  • Secure Big Data platforms using HDFS encryption at rest, TLS and SSL certificates, and Kerberos integration with Active Directory and MIT.

  • Protect sensitive data including PII and PCI using Apache Ranger for dynamic masking and row and column-level filtering.

  • Deploy advanced Oracle security tools including Transparent Data Encryption, Database Vault, and Audit Vault and Database Firewall.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Information Technology, or a related discipline.

  • Minimum 10+ years of progressive experience in database administration, big data infrastructure, and enterprise data architecture.

  • Experience with Cloudera CDH and CDP, Hive, Impala, Spark, NiFi, and Ranger.

  • Strong expertise in Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MongoDB.

  • Hands-on experience with Oracle GoldenGate, Kafka, and Oracle Data Guard.

  • Solid experience operating in Linux, Unix, and Windows Server environments.

  • Experience supporting mission-critical 24/7 production systems within government, telecom, banking, or large enterprise sectors.
