Senior Data Visualisation Journalist The National News

We are looking for a Senior Data Visualisation Journalist to join our new data and forensic team. This
role is perfect for a data-driven storyteller eager to work on impactful investigations, create
compelling narratives, and enhance digital storytelling through innovative visualizations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with editors and reporters to uncover and develop data-driven stories
• Analyse, clean, and visualize data to produce engaging content for The National s digital
  platforms
• Ensure accuracy and integrity of data-driven reporting through rigorous fact-checking
• Create and pitch original data investigations, introducing fresh, innovative ideas
• Work closely with designers and developers to craft interactive visual stories
• Provide news insights and context on major events through data analysis
• Contribute to The National s social media strategy with tailored data visualisations
• Uphold journalistic ethics and best practices in all reporting

Key Requirements:

• Bachelor s degree in journalism, Data Science, or a related field
• A minimum of 7 years of experience in data journalism
• Proficiency in Python, R, SQL, and data visualization tools (Flourish, Tableau, D3.js, Adobe
  Illustrator)
• Experience with HTML or custom CMS platforms is preferred
• Strong analytical skills and ability to simplify complex data for broad audiences
• Fluency in English (Arabic is a plus)
• Proven expertise in data storytelling, with a strong portfolio

The successful candidate will report to the Head of Data Visualisation Journalism and work within a
busy team in our vibrant newsroom.
