Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

The Senior Draftsman – Mechanical is responsible for producing detailed mechanical shop drawings, coordination drawings, and as-built documentation for HVAC, plumbing, and fire-fighting systems on villa and building construction projects in the UAE.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare mechanical shop drawings (HVAC ductwork, chilled water piping, plumbing, fire fighting) in AutoCAD and/or Revit MEP.

  • Interpret mechanical engineering designs, schematics, and specifications to produce construction-level drawings.

  • Coordinate with Electrical and Plumbing draftsmen to resolve spatial conflicts and produce integrated services drawings.

  • Produce as-built drawings incorporating all site variations and RFI responses.

  • Manage drawing revisions, transmittals, and ensure drawings are aligned with approved submittals.

  • Liaise with the BIM team to maintain drawing consistency with 3D models.

  • Ensure drawings comply with UAE authority standards (DEWA, Trakhees, Civil Defence, SEWA).

  • Mentor and check the work of junior draftsmen in the mechanical team.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

  • 7–10 years of MEP drafting experience with a Tier 1 UAE MEP contractor.

  • 2–5 years on villa and building construction projects in the UAE.

  • Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD MEP (mandatory); Revit MEP is a strong advantage.

  • Good understanding of mechanical systems: HVAC, chilled water, drainage, firefighting.

  • Familiarity with UAE authority submission standards and local MEP codes.
