Roles & Responsibilities


Location: Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

Contract Duration: 8 Months with possible extension
The Senior Electrical Engineer – MV Distribution Planning will play a critical technical role in the comprehensive assessment of Medium Voltage (MV) distribution networks across multiple electricity regions.
Technical evaluation of MV feeders and substations

Compliance benchmarking against Distribution Planning Standards (DPS), Technical Standards (TS), and the Saudi Arabian Distribution Code (SADC)

CYME-based network simulation and validation

Identification and categorization of deviations

Development of prioritized enhancement recommendations

This position is central to ensuring technical rigor, regulatory compliance, and analytical accuracy throughout the project lifecycle.

Desired Candidate Profile

A. Technical Assessment & Compliance Review

  • Review and evaluate MV overhead and underground networks.

  • Analyze feeder loading, configuration, voltage performance, and material utilization.

  • Assess compliance with DPS, TS, and SADC standards.

  • Identify and classify technical deviations and non-conformities.

  • Evaluate planning criteria including loop configuration, normal open points, and contingency performance.

B. CYME Simulation & Analytical Validation

  • Develop and validate CYME models for selected MV feeders.

  • Perform:

o Load flow analysis

o Voltage stability assessment

o Technical loss calculations

o Fault level studies

o Power quality evaluation

  • Validate simulation outputs against operational data.

  • Ensure simulation files are accurate, structured, and editable for client handover.

C. Deviation Categorization & Risk Ranking

  • Categorize deviations based on:

o Standard adherence

o Reliability impact

o Cost efficiency

o Operational risk

  • Support development of prioritized network enhancement plans.

  • Contribute to development of quick-win, medium-term, and long-term recommendations.

D. Regional Implementation & Validation

  • Participate in regional workshops and technical validation sessions.

  • Present analytical findings to SEC engineering teams.

  • Support resolution of technical queries.

  • Incorporate feedback into final deliverables.

E. Reporting & Documentation

  • Contribute to:

o Regional assessment reports

o Simulation reports

o Deviation database documentation

  • Ensure all models and reports meet SEC format requirements.

  • Maintain traceability of calculations and assumptions.
