Supervise and coordinate detailed engineering works for projects & proposals, and provide technical procurement assistance in compliance with tender specifications & data sheets.
Works as lead for small & medium size projects (involving team of 2 to 6 discipline engineers), accountable for overall discipline related activities for the successful completion of project within budgeted man-hours and project schedules.
Serves as the tie-in in the department team for inter-discipline engineering activities on the project.
Review Contract Scope of Work, Design Basis, BEDD, Project Specifications, Equipment data sheets and Process Data Sheets (PDS), Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Plot plans, Philosophies, HSE requirements and other relevant documents.
Establish contract review criteria, review proposal engineering documents, identify & resolve discrepancies and divergences from original proposal through technical queries to projects/client.
Perform FEED verification & Design Reviews activity based on contract requirements, company standards, industry practices and international codes & standards.
Verify and conceptualize the most optimum work route. Identify a clear scope of work/supply and accordingly plan/schedule the engineering activities and manpower resource. Identify and quantify total number of engineering deliverables, man-hour allocation, time schedules and other requirements for execution of the work.
Coordinate with projects and planning on project time schedules, establish target completion dates, ensure target dates are achieved.
Develop Manpower charts and schedules for the execution of engineering activities within budgeted project man-hours. Recommend cost effective measures to reduce overall manpower costs.
Review & facilitate inputs from other disciplines viz. BEDD, Process Design Basis, Process data sheets, P&IDs, key SLD, Control Philosophy, Piping Material Specifications, Electrical and Instrumentation Specifications for Packages, Power supply, Utility requirements, material selections, HSE & environmental regulations and other applicable Project Specifications.
Prepare/review equipment design, specifications & data sheets, relevant code requirements, strength check/calculations, materials, PWHT, NDT etc.
Ensure interfacing & integration of equipment/package with the plant & facilities by issuance of engineering documents for Inter-Discipline Checks (IDC’s), and managing technical interfaces amongst various disciplines by capturing changes as work progresses.
Provide inputs for the preparation of plot plans, single line diagram, weight control sheet etc. Organize review of engineering documents from other discipline through Inter-Discipline Checks (IDC’s) and design reviews.
Prepare/review technical inquiry requests (Inquiry Requisitions) and carryout technical evaluation of bids. Ensure vendor’s capabilities are proven & well referenced, and the proposed design confirms to Project Specification & Data Sheets.
Prepare/Review Purchase Requisitions for the procurement of equipment and materials. Ensure vendor equipment’s compatibility and compliance with Project specifications. Coordinate with procurement and ascertain vendor print submission is as per engineering schedule.
Attend project/engineering review meetings, ensure the progress of project in accordance to schedule and allotted man hours. Coordinate with projects and planning departments on schedule related issues and provide progress reports inputs.
Participate in HAZOP, SIL & other design review meeting with representatives of other engineering disciplines and client.
Ensure compliance with Company’s Quality procedures. Coordinate Internal and external audit requests, facilitate audits, and close out audit actions & recommendations as per Project Quality Plan & Quality Procedures.
Apply lesson learnt from previous projects. Facilitate Internal Technical Audits and Technical Assurance Checks at appropriate stages of engineering development.
Review shop test procedures & test plans and participate in Performance Tests & FAT at Supplier Works.
Provide technical support to construction sites and commissioning team, during installation, commissioning and startups of equipment & packages, as required.
Contribute to development of department by providing project engineering & cost data, lessons learnt & other feedbacks from the project, and training of young engineers and trainees assigned on Projects.
Work on Development of Standards/Data Sheets/Other Tools to improve productivity.
Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering over 10 years of related Oil and Gas industry experience, preferably from a background in working for consultancy organizations in the EPC of the Oil and Gas Industry.
A minimum of 3 years of Experience within the off-shore oil & gas industry working for Offshore Engineering Consultants / EPCI Contractors. Must have worked as Lead Engineer on at least one upstream Oil and Gas Projects.
In depth knowledge on relevant International codes & standards like ASME, ASTM, TEMA, BSI, API, HEI, ISO etc. and design practices specific to Static Equipment & Packages.
Hands on experience in the design & engineering of Vessels, Columns & Heat Exchangers, and in use of design software such as PV Elite, Compress etc.
Ability to independently handle mechanical packages like TEG packages, Flares, Heaters etc.
Knowledge on Material Handling Equipment used on Off-shore Projects & Facilities.
Ability to adopt a tactful problem solving approach to tasks and demonstrate coordination, monitoring, supervisory and communication skills.
Ability to identify critical issues which might have significant impact on the scope of project requirements.
