•Provide service in accordance with client s request and contract specifications.
•Review project requirements, Supervise field and engineering geologists and ensure implementation of appropriate techniques. Performs independently all standard geological assignments, prepares and implements logging field testing and geological reporting procedure and plan on large project.
•Should be able to lead a team of Engineering Geologists, Field Geologists and Geologists
•Supervises moderate to complex field investigations, and assists juniors in the completion of assignments.
•Develop geological assessment on project with specific requirements or complex settings with potential impact on project development. Show initiative and lead in innovative technologies to develop mapping competencies and increase expertise with geo-data modelling on each project
•Show initiative as part of the role in all duties and set example as necessity for the team members.
•Liaise with site staff, undertake desktop studies to determine the geological setting of the site. Identify geohazards on investigative sites and inform clients of potential risks.
•Resource planning and scheduling of geologists and monitoring and mentoring the field geologists and imparting training to them to ensure Fugro procedures are followed
•Make effective use of geologists time and plan their training programs and workshops by planning a continuing technical training program
•Accountable to impart training and assist in updating or formulating standards and ensuring the standards are followed by field and office geologists
•Accountable for all processed field data issued to client, all the geological logs and cross sections and factual reports
•Responsible for field equipment maintenance and management and inventory control

•Responsible for understanding engineering requirements as per project specifications and ensuring that the engineering data collection testing and reporting are in accordance with accepted latest codes and standards and standard engineering practices.
Role Specific Technical Competencies
•Experience in preparation of geotechnical engineering reports and understanding field data and derivation of engineering parameters and producing a factual report fully in accordance with accepted practices and project requirements
•In depth understanding of engineering geology with its Civil Engineering applications, familiar with soil and rock; Updated with, logging, laboratory and in-situ-testing standards and capable of knowledge transfer to colleagues
•Coach engineers and geologists collaborating in the department on all technical matters.
•Review projects planning, assign work and review of tests processing, logging and calculations.
•May assist with review of high profile tenders and scoping on large project with high technical requirements.
•Conduct his/her own reporting and review other engineering geologist reports.
•Follow technical development in the industry and integrate expertise from other Fugro OPCO in coordination with the Principal Engineer or Engineering Manager.
•Assess project requirements and find solutions in consultation with the Principal Engineer or Engineering Manager for all problems faced or anticipated during a project.
•Control quality of works during a project. Make sure geologist are properly trained and updated with logging procedure, run QA/QC on logging. Take immediate corrective action and address to project team members in case of deviation.
•Control and respect budget on project. Adhere to contract milestone by timely reporting and for prompt invoicing. Follow up and attempt to resolve issue in this matter with the clients, address to Principal Engineer, Engineering Manager in case of difficulties.
•Awareness of any specific health and safety measures needed on a project.
•Responsible for logging quality of the geologist and field engineer in the department and train them as required using Fugro learning material where available.
•Make technical training presentations to the team members as needed to train them on Fugro procedures and other drilling testing and logging practices.
•Cltivate the good work ethic within the engineering department and with peers in other departments, OPCOs.
•Knowledge of Auto CAD and GIS software preferable.
•Report Writing Skills, Very good Engineering skills and engineering geology in depth knowledge.

Qualifications / Skills / Experience
•M. Sc. in Geology or Earth Sciences. PhD is an added advantage.
•At least 10 years experience (6 years for PhD holders)in engineering geology work related to soil investigation & laboratory testing, preparation of subsurface profiles and cross sections, geological assessment, development of mapping and identification of features, faults, seismic hazard, slope stability and other related geohazards.
•Updated in geological assessment techniques, logging, laboratory and in-situ-testing standards and capable of knowledge transfer to department members. Capable to prepare geotechnical engineering assessment for common foundation types, geological assessment and desktop study reports. Should have a basic understanding of soil and rock mechanics. Civil Engineering knowledge will be added advantage.
•Familiar with at least one geological data assessment and mapping tool. Familiar with Rock ware, Slope stability assessment software, Plaxis or similar 3D software and Kinematic analysis programs will be preferred.
•Fluent in English, with excellent report writing skills.
