Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Estimator Engineer with 10 years of construction experience to prepare detailed cost estimates, analyze tenders, and support project bidding for construction projects in Abu Dhabi. The candidate will work closely with the commercial, project management, and procurement teams to ensure accurate, competitive, and timely estimates in compliance with project specifications and UAE construction standards.
Key Responsibilities
Estimation & Cost Analysis
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects, including civil, structural, architectural, and MEP works
- Analyze tender documents, drawings, and BOQs to develop accurate project estimates
- Conduct material take-offs, labor calculations, and equipment cost analysis
- Evaluate subcontractor quotations and incorporate into overall project cost
Tender & Bidding Support
- Support the preparation of pre-tender and post-tender reports
- Review tender submissions for completeness and compliance with project specifications
- Participate in bid clarifications, value engineering, and commercial negotiations
Commercial Coordination
- Collaborate with Procurement, Planning, and Project Management teams to align costs with project schedules and deliverables
- Monitor project budgets and provide cost guidance for variations and change orders
- Prepare quantity analysis, cost comparison, and financial reports
Reporting & Documentation
- Maintain a library of unit rates, historical costs, and vendor pricing
- Prepare detailed estimation reports, presentations, and executive summaries
- Ensure all estimates and supporting documents are properly archived and auditable
Compliance & Quality
- Ensure estimates comply with UAE construction regulations, Abu Dhabi authority requirements, and company standards
- Conduct risk analysis to account for uncertainties in pricing, material availability, and schedule impacts
- Support audits and internal reviews of estimation procedures
Qualifications & Requirements
Education
- Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or Construction Management
Experience
- 10 years of experience in construction estimation
- Strong experience in Abu Dhabi / UAE construction projects
- Exposure to high-rise, residential, commercial, infrastructure, or mixed-use projects
Technical Skills
- Proficient in MS Office, AutoCAD, and estimation software (e.g., CostX, Cubit, WinQS)
- Knowledge of UAE construction standards, specifications, and authority requirements
- Ability to prepare accurate BOQs, quantity take-offs, and cost breakdowns
Competencies
- Strong analytical and numerical skills
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Good negotiation and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tenders and projects simultaneously
Preferred Candidate Profile
- Experience working with main contractors, PMC, or MEP contractors in Abu Dhabi
- Proven track record in successful project bidding and cost optimization
- Familiarity with Abu Dhabi authority approvals and construction regulations
Desired Candidate Profile
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
- Professional certifications such as Certified Cost Professional (CCP) or similar are highly desirable.
- Experience in diverse industries such as commercial, residential, or infrastructure projects is preferred.
- Proficiency in estimation software such as Sage Estimating, Bluebeam, or similar tools to streamline cost calculation.
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills to assess complex data and produce accurate estimates.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to articulate estimates and collaborate with teams.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines without compromising quality.
- Demonstrated leadership qualities and experience mentoring or training junior engineers.
- Fluency in English is essential; additional language skills may be preferred based on project locations.
