Job Description

The Senior Estimator is a critical role in the construction and manufacturing industries, responsible for providing accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for projects. This position requires a deep understanding of construction methodologies, a mastery of cost estimation software, and an ability to interpret blueprints and technical documents. The Senior Estimator works closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to evaluate project risks, develop budgets, and ensure projects are financially viable. A successful Senior Estimator will combine analytical skills with industry expertise to ensure projects align with financial goals and timelines. This role demands excellent communication skills, as the Senior Estimator must present estimates and reports to clients, management, and other project team members, often playing a key role in the bidding process and negotiations.


Responsibilities
  • Develop detailed and accurate cost estimates for various construction projects.
  • Review and interpret project plans, specifications, and other documentation.
  • Identify potential project risks and develop strategies to mitigate them effectively.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to ensure estimate accuracy.
  • Utilize estimation software and tools to enhance estimation accuracy and efficiency.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, materials costs, and best practices in estimation.
  • Manage the bidding process by preparing bid documents and coordinating with subcontractors.
  • Present and justify estimates to clients, stakeholders, and decision-makers.
  • Continuously review completed projects to improve estimation accuracy for future endeavors.
  • Maintain accurate records of estimates, proposals, and project financials.
  • Participate in client meetings and site visits to gather project information and insights.
  • Train and mentor junior estimators, sharing best practices and knowledge.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction estimating or a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of estimation software such as Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with a keen eye for detail in cost estimation.
  • Proven ability to read and interpret technical blueprints and site drawings.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Sound understanding of construction methodologies and project management principles.
