Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Responsible to plan, assign and communicate mechanical rudder and propeller jobs to R&P foreman and fitters in mechanical department R&P section to meet set milestones. Lead the R&P teams for repair work onboard and/or workshop in accordance to clients and yard requirement to deliver projects within time.
Day-to-day operations:
Lead the R&P team for all mechanical R&P repair activities onboard any assigned project.
Attend meetings and liaise with project managers and clients on day to day activity and progress.
Ensure that all work instructions, department standards and checklists are followed by R&P foremen and fitters.
Request and prepare spares to assemble all parts as recommended by OEM.
Take charge of the mechanical R&P section in absence of R&P supervisors.
Attend testing, sea trial and troubleshooting as required.
Exercise discipline at the work site to prevent absenteeism, unsafe work practices and idleness.
Liaise with other discipline foremen / supervision to ensure the optimum utilization of available resources, with
the overall objective of successful completion of the project.
Create progress reports on a daily basis and ensure that any significant information is communicated to the
supervisor i.e. resource shortfalls, surplus, HSEQ concerns.
Assist the supervisors in planning activities.
Ensure that the workers are properly supplied with machineries, tools, equipment and materials and everything is
in proper order and state of maintenance.
Perform inspections to ensure that the workers performance is up to the set standards.
Coach and guide Foremen and fitters to ensure safety, productivity and quality are maintained.
Desired Candidate Profile
Possesses a relevant vocational qualification or diploma in engineering or a related field, demonstrating a solid foundation in the industry.
Demonstrates a minimum of 8 years of hands-on experience in the marine industry, with a focus on rudder and propeller systems.
Exhibits a deep understanding of various vessel types, including cargo ships, tankers, and offshore vessels, with practical experience.
