Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

The Senior Mechanical Engineer will oversee all mechanical engineering activities within the hospital, including HVAC, plumbing, fire-fighting, and medical gas systems. The role is responsible for ensuring that all systems operate efficiently, safely, and in compliance with UAE healthcare and building standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge, leadership skills, and hands-on experience managing mechanical systems in large healthcare facilities.

Bachelor s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master s preferred).

Must be UAE Society of Engineers registered.

Valid DOH/DHA knowledge or experience in healthcare facilities preferred.

Minimum 7 10 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with at least 3 years in hospital or healthcare facilities in the UAE.

Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and mechanical system design software.

Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, fire protection, medical gases, and plumbing design.

Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs and energy management systems.

Strong leadership and project management skills.

Excellent communication and coordination abilities.

High attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

Proficiency in English; Arabic is an advantage.

  • Supervise and manage the operation, maintenance, and performance of all hospital mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, drainage, firefighting, and medical gas systems).
  • Plan and coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance activities to minimize downtime.
  • Review and approve design drawings, specifications, and project documentation for new installations or upgrades.
  • Monitor contractors and service providers to ensure compliance with project and safety standards.
  • Ensure mechanical systems comply with DOH/DHA regulations, ASHRAE, and UAE Fire & Life Safety Code requirements.
  • Participate in commissioning and testing of new mechanical systems and equipment.
  • Collaborate with architects, electrical engineers, and project managers during hospital construction and renovation.
  • Support energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives within the facility.
  • Prepare reports, maintenance schedules, and documentation for audits and accreditation.
  • Train and guide junior engineers and technicians.
