This is an incredible opportunity to take on a leadership role in the client's dedicated Unconventional Resources Supply Chain organization, with responsibility for the Procurement function. In this capacity, the candidate shall lead a team of buyers to execute procurement activities to ensure reliable supply and maximize the total value delivered by suppliers to end-users (e.g., exploration, drilling, production, surface operations, projects and support functions). In addition to management of a team within the UR Supply Chain Procurement function, the successful candidate shall coordinate extensively with colleagues across functions within the UR supply chain, within the overall UR organization (including internal UR end users and technical proponents), and with counterparts in the conventional materials supply organization.
a) Management and Leadership: Manage the Procurement area in all general aspects related to leadership, administration, staff, budget and performance.
b) Strategic and Operational Planning: Interpret the overall UR strategic objectives and develop suitable strategies and business plans for the Procurement function, including allocation of purchasing activities and manpower requirements to ensure effective operation of the requisition-to-pay process, as part of the annual planning and budgeting process.
c) People Development: Lead the development of employee talent by designing competency maps, preparing employee development plans and recruiting candidates.
d) Procurement Supervision: Supervise the overall requisition-to-pay process, guiding a team of buyers to execute either tactical or strategic sourcing activities, as well as purchasing activities, to support the business needs of internal customers in the UR organization (ensuring reliable supply and maximizing the total value delivered by suppliers) while ensuring the integrity of the end-to-end process.
e) Interface Management: Manage interfaces with other functions within UR Supply Chain (including Procurement and Materials Management), as well as internal customers within the UR program (e.g., exploration, drilling, production, surface operations, projects, and support functions) to deliver best value to internal customers and ensure a consistent and unified approach to the supply market.
A bachelor's degree in engineering, business administration, or a closely related field. An advanced degree (e.g., an MBA) is preferred.
A minimum of 15 years of experience in progressive roles, with at least 7 years of management experience leading procurement activities in the oil and gas industry, with preference for experience in unconventional resources.
