Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Job Purpose:

To be responsible for ensuring that all systems protections and components of NEDC's are studied, designed, installed, tested, operated, and maintained according to company requirements and Oman standards. This role involves conducting study and design activities and collaborating closely with project teams to achieve successful project outcomes.

Description

Lead the team and provide technical support to ensure the successful completion of all protection tasks.

Develop and implement the plans, procedures and protocols.

Allocate resources effectively and manage project schedule.

Analyze the system faults and disturbances to find the level of protection involvement and to initiate corrective measures if required.

Review & approve all project protection related files (Drawings, BLD/PMD, fault level & Setting calculation, Relay lists, CTVT sizing and others) as per agreed plans.

Prepare the fault levels & protection settings for the required projects.

Carry out protection activities as per the plan (commissioning, maintenance, design and analyze & development).

Review & approve related sites reports (method statement, pre-commissioning, testing report etc).

Conduct power system studies by using specialized software tools to analyze system behavior under various operating conditions, including fault scenarios whenever required.

Prepare & review protection scope of work, technical specifications and tender document for the protection projects and follow up the execution as per agreed plans.

Review DCC incident daily reports and prepare protection investigation reports as required.

Carry out protection audits & inspections for the protection system, close all the findings and fill up related check lists.

Other protection duties, as assigned by the line manager.

Periodic Coordination with all protection stakeholders to ensure the implementation of NEDC approved protection procedures, and manuals for all protection activities.

Schedule and plans protection activities (commissioning, maintenance, design and analyze & development) with relevant stakeholders with the targeted timeline for each plan.

Ensure compliance with Oman standards, Distribution & grid codes, and regulations, NEDC protection manuals & policies.

Identify and resolve technical issues during the protection activities process to ensure protection system reliability & stability.

Upload all related protection reports in Oracle system as required.

Contribute to developing Protection manuals as require and based on the best practices.

Ensure proper documentation of all Protection activities.

Provide technical support to protection stakeholders as required.

Understand the HSE standards of the company and adhere to them at all times.

Report incidents of HSE violations and lapses to competent authority.

Report unsafe act, Substation HSSE audit as required.

Implement Division HSE plan.

Promote a safety-first culture within the team.

Implement quality control measures to ensure the highest standards of protection activities. practices.

Continuously contribute to improving Protection system based on the best practices.

Fill up related check lists for the protection activities.

Protection data management.

Adhere to company policies and procedures at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

Degree in Electrical Engineering.

Minimum Experience:

At least 5+ years of experience in electricity sector, of which 3 years in protection

Protection level of authorization No 2 is ideal.
