Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
The Senior Safety Officer is responsible for implementing, monitoring, construction sites to ensure compliance with local regulations, company policies, and international safety standards (OSHA/NEBOSH/ISO 45001). This role oversees site inspections, conducts risk assessments, and leads the safety culture across all project phases. • Develop, implement, and enforce site-specific safety plans, procedures, and risk control measures. • Conduct daily site inspections, toolbox talks, and incident investigations to ensure compliance with HSE policies. • Identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions to prevent accidents and injuries. • Lead safety induction and ongoing training programs for staff, subcontractors, and visitors. • Maintain accurate records of safety statistics, near misses, and corrective actions for reporting and audits. • Coordinate emergency response drills and ensure readiness of all safety equipment. • Liaise with project managers, engineers, and external safety auditors to ensure continual improvement. • Monitor adherence to PPE standards and safe work practices across multiple work zones. • Prepare and submit HSE performance reports to management and regulatory authorities.
Desired Candidate Profile
• Diploma/Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or related field. • NEBOSH IGC or equivalent certification (mandatory). • Minimum 10 years’ experience in construction safety supervision. • Strong knowledge of local construction safety regulations and international HSE standards. • Excellent communication, leadership, and incident investigation skills. • Proficient in MS Office and safety management systems (e.g., ISO 45001).
