Roles & Responsibilities
Responsibilities
- Review drawings, reports, specifications.
- Review submittals, revert with comments, ensure comments are addressed.
- Respond to RFIs.
- Attend meetings.
- Coordinate with relevant team members to ensure all documents are properly controlled.
- Review materials and propose alternatives/recommendations.
- Review variations.
- Apply knowledge of Engineering Principles and able to design using all common building materials.
- Report writing and documentation skills.
- Processing construction documentation such as, responding to RFI s and commenting on engineering submittals.
- Review engineering designs and provide input on their suitability. Advise on changes if required during the engineering phase.
- Contribute to designs produced by GHD to ensure the contractor has a well-coordinated set of drawings.
- Ensure Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) procedures are followed during project execution.
- Proactively collaborate with other members of the team to deliver innovative and balanced best value solutions that meet the Client s requirements.
- Assist Project Managers in monitoring and driving progress.
- Manage BIM technicians and mentoring graduate engineers.
- Can undertake structural inspections and report on material and construction defects and provide guidance for remedial repairs.
- Any other relevant duties as assigned by Line Manager/RE/PM.
- External Communications: Help others get the most out of external communications systems by offering support and advice.
- Construction Management: Supervise others on a construction project, working within established operational systems.
- Health, Safety, and Environment: Follow the organizations health, safety, and environment (HSE) policies, procedures, and mandatory instructions to identify and mitigate environmental risks and risks to the well-being of self and others in the workplace; instruct the team in safe working methods; identify instances of risky behaviors within the team and take appropriate action, escalating serious issues as appropriate.
- Work Scheduling and Allocation: Assign short-term work schedules to a team of subordinates in order to achieve expectations while following established timelines.
- Leadership and Direction: Communicate the local action plan; explain how this relates to the functions strategy and action plan and to the broader organizations mission and vision; motivate people to achieve local business goals.
- Performance Management: Respond to personal objectives and use performance management systems to improve personal performance; or monitor the performance of the team, allocate work and review completion, take appropriate corrective action to ensure timeliness and quality, and contribute to formal individual performance management and appraisal.
- Organizational Capability Building: Provide coaching to team members to develop their skills.
- Quality Assurance: Plan and coordinate testing and inspection of products and processes. Implement corrective actions or continuous improvement initiatives and monitor them to make sure they are effective.
- Operational Compliance: Identify, within the team, instances of noncompliance with the organizations policies and procedures and/or relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct, reporting these instances and escalating issues as appropriate.
- Client & Customer Management (External): Help senior colleagues manage client and customer relationships by using relevant sales or client systems.
