Responsible for leading the structural engineering function on large-scale building projects, ensuring compliance with UAE codes, international standards, and project specifications. Oversees structural design, analysis, coordination, and implementation from tender through construction completion. Provides expert guidance on constructability, cost-effectiveness, and risk mitigation while managing a team of structural engineers and liaising with consultants, contractors, and site teams to resolve technical challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading structural design review and validation of consultant’s drawings, ensuring compliance with project specifications, codes, and authority requirements before issuing for construction.
  • Performing advanced structural analysis and design calculations for reinforced concrete, post-tensioned, and structural steel elements, including beams, slabs, columns, shear walls, core walls, trusses, and foundations.
  • Reviewing and approving method statements, shop drawings, and material submittals for all structural works to ensure constructability and compliance with IFC drawings and technical specifications.
  • Coordinating with architects, MEP engineers, and other disciplines to ensure structural integrity is maintained without design clashes or interference.
  • Conducting detailed load calculations, including dead loads, live loads, wind loads, seismic loads, and dynamic loads, ensuring accurate load transfer paths and stability.
  • Providing value engineering proposals for cost-effective structural solutions without compromising safety, performance, or aesthetics.
  • Supervising and mentoring junior structural engineers, checking their calculations, and ensuring timely delivery of design packages.
  • Conducting site inspections and verifying that structural works are executed as per approved drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Troubleshooting on-site structural issues and providing immediate solutions, including structural strengthening, rectification measures, and design adjustments.
  • Liaising with authorities such as Dubai Municipality, Trakhees, or relevant approval bodies for structural design submissions, revisions, and final approvals.
  • Reviewing concrete mix designs, steel grade compliance, and material test reports to ensure structural material integrity.
  • Assessing temporary works designs such as shoring, scaffolding, formwork, and falsework for safety and compliance before execution.
  • Monitoring construction sequencing to ensure structural stability at all stages, including during partial completions and temporary load applications.
  • Preparing and updating structural design risk registers, identifying potential issues, and implementing mitigation strategies.
  • Evaluating contractor claims related to structural design changes, delays, or rework and preparing technical justifications.
  • Participating in design coordination meetings, site progress reviews, and technical workshops with consultants and contractors.
  • Ensuring that as-built structural drawings are prepared accurately and submitted for final project handover.
