Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Technical Repairs & Maintenance: Diagnose and repair ship engines, propulsion systems, boilers, pumps, and electrical systems.
  • Structural & Mechanical Work: Perform hull repairs, welding, piping, and outfitting.
  • Project Management: Plan and schedule dry-docking and repair projects, manage budgets, and ensure timely completion.
  • Inspection & Testing: Survey vessels to detect defects, analyze damage, and conduct operational tests.
  • Coordination: Liaison with ship owners, crews, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Compliance & Safety: Maintain Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards in the shipyard.

Desired Candidate Profile


  • Education: A degree or diploma in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: Typically 5+ years of experience in ship repair, with specific knowledge of propulsion systems or thrusters.
  • Technical Knowledge: Understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, marine electrical systems, and blue print interpretation.
  • Soft Skills: Leadership, problem-solving, communication, and proficiency in English.

Typical Working Environment
Ship Repair Engineers work both in shipyards (docks) and on board vessels in port. The role requires managing teams of technicians, such as welders and electricians, in a fast-paced environment.
