General Description:

Supervisor / Foreman will normally report to the Site Agent.

Senior Supervisor / Senior Foreman will be expected to have a greater level of competence may be allocated other Supervisor / Foreman to work underneath them. Depending upon the size of the project, a Supervisor/Foreman may control the whole works or be allocated a section.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Labour and Plant-

• Allocation of direct labour and plant on a daily basis in agreement with the Agent is a key responsibility. Continual monitoring is then required to ensure the resources remain productive.
• Labour and plant should always be allocated in accordance with the tender gang sizes. It is most important that Supervisor/Foreman request the Agent or Quantity Surveyor to advise them of the labour and plant allowed for certain activities. Accountable for the productivity of the labour.
• Assist Agents/Planner with forecasting of labour and plant on a weekly and monthly basis to ensure requisitions are placed in sufficient time to personnel/plant department.
• Recognise labour with potential who could be suitable for additional responsibilities.


• Site Supervisor / Foremen are the most important staff members in ensuring that safety procedures and measures are put in practice. It is therefore the responsibility of the Supervisor / Foreman to ensure that no workers are put to work in a manner, which the Supervisor / Foreman considers unsafe.
• It is not acceptable to assume that the Safety Officer is responsible alone for safety.
• Supervisor / Foreman should report all accidents to the Safety Officer and Site Agent.

• Supervisor / Foreman should check the experience and knowledge of all labour involved in dangerous operations, i.e. lifting, scaffolding, working at height, etc.


• Understand and ensure the requirements of the QA plan and technical specifications are carried out.
• Ensure good practices are carried out to obtain an acceptable level of quality. This includes ensuring the proper tools, equipment and working environment is provided to allow the labour to achieve and acceptable quality.


• Once materials arrive on site, the movement and storage of materials is the responsibility of the Supervisor / Foreman. Proper storage and allocation/movement of materials is highly related to the productivity of labour and plant.
• Assist in ordering of materials, particularly call off orders for such items as concrete, blocks, aggregates etc.
• Offer advice where appropriate on suitability of materials. An experienced site Foreman will often have specialist knowledge in certain areas, which can be of great benefit to the site.


They shall be accountable to monitoring the quality of works, improvement in reduction of reworks and to ensure the effective QMS performance pertaining to their activities.


The Supervisor / Foreman has full authority delegated by the Site Agent / Construction Manager to carry out all responsibilities assigned.

Desired Candidate Profile

Expected Requirements/Skills of a Supervisor / Foreman

a]. Good experience of one or more trades for senior positions.
b]. Minimum 10 years on-site experience for a Senior Foreman is expected.
c]. Good spoken English (at least for senior positions).
d]. Good knowledge of safety precautions and procedures.
e]. Ability to control labour and plant productively and in accordance with allowables, gang sizes.
f]. Be able to produce and maintain basic records of progress, labour allocation, plant allocation etc.
