We have a Hybrid approach to working here at Engine - our preference is that you're located within a commutable distance of one of our offices so that we're able to interact and collaborate in person. Some travel (including international) will be necessary, depending on the client and nature of the engagement.

About The Role
We are seeking a Solution Architect to be part of the core Engine team working to establish, grow and scale our Middle Eastern business and ensure the successful implementation of the Engine Platform for our clients in the region. This role blends deep technical expertise with strong communication and collaboration skills. You'll become an Engine expert, understanding its architecture, technology, and functionality, allowing you to effectively communicate its capabilities and value to both technical and non-technical audiences, including prospective clients.
Based in one of Engine's regional offices, Dubai, you'll be responsible for providing deep technical expertise to both the client and internal stakeholders as part of the full client lifecycle: business development, client discovery, implementation and ongoing delivery of new Engine features for existing clients. You'll act as a trusted advisor that is able to guide and challenge clients in a respectful manner to ensure they receive the highest level of value from their technology investments. During implementation, this includes taking ownership of the technical aspects of client deliveries, collaborating closely with our SI partners to overcome challenges, understand best practice and achieve seamless integrations. Your contributions will also extend to shaping Engine's product roadmap and supporting sales efforts through technical demos and client workshops.
In addition, you will be a technical champion for our existing clients in the region, ensuring their ongoing success. You'll provide expert guidance to client engineering teams, using documentation, API specifications, and sequence diagrams to foster a deep understanding of Engine's architecture and functionalities.
Business Development
What you'll get to do
- Confidently discuss every stage of the technology adoption cycle all the way from the CEO to the developer.
- Support sales and business development teams through establishing trusted advisor relationships and maintaining a strong network with decision-makers and senior technical stakeholders / buyers throughout the sales process.
- Collaborate with internal subject matter experts and engineers to devise client solutions and feedback client insights to drive product strategy
- Support implementation partners and SIs in understanding Engine
- Support formal RFPs and informal client workshops and proposals from a technical perspective
- Support clients with sandbox environments and PoCs
Client Discovery & Delivery:
- Support requirements gathering process and provide technical expertise to manage scope and contribute to solution design
- Support the planning for discovery alongside the Product team and helping to estimate build and delivery timelines/effort
- Help determine technical risk and engineering effort associated with a client solution and suggest mitigation options
- Interface with the Product & Delivery teams, articulating client requirements, to ensure smooth transition from Sales to Delivery
Collaborating closely with Engine Engineering and Product teams, you'll help design, build, and deliver new features - from initial concept to deployed APIs, mobile journeys, and Management Portal enhancements.
Client success:
Collaborate closely with our Client Success team to troubleshoot technical issues, translate client needs into new technical requirements, and architect innovative solutions that enhance the Engine platform.
Desired Candidate Profile
Requirements
Must Have
- Experience of end-to-end software engineering / solution architecture across the software delivery lifecycle
- Experience with software service design and integration, such as RESTful APIs, OpenAPI specification and sequence diagrams
- Experience working in a client-facing role and building relationships with stakeholders
- Strong interpersonal communication and collaboration skills. Experience delivering complex messaging to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Nice to Have
- Experience relating to retail or business banking, core banking, card processing or payments.
- Knowledge of cloud infrastructure and large-scale cloud applications
- Experience of delivery and implementation of core banking or large-scale digital transformation programmes, application migration and solution integration
- Experience of rapidly understanding client problems and presenting technical solutions in a structured and informative manner
- Experience with AWS or GCP, Microservices, RESTful APIs, Java & PostgreSQL
- Understanding of key pain points for banks dealing with existing legacy systems
