Special Assistant to the Provost
The American University in Dubai invites qualified applicants to apply for the position of Special Assistant to the Provost.
The fundamental responsibility of this position is to support the Provost in all effective business, academic and the operational functioning of the office.
Principal Responsibilities:
¢ General management for the Office of the Provost
¢ Manage all administrative and academic activities of the office of the Provost
¢ Manage the activities of the Academic Council Scheduling, agenda, meeting minutes, presentations, updates
¢ Assist in planning of events, workshops and meetings
¢ Develop and participate in presentations to all external parties
¢ Participate in visits to and meetings with external parties
¢ Manage the Academic website and social media accounts
¢ Support the following activities and functions
¢ Academic Calendar (development, review, follow-up)
¢ Calendar of events (internal and external) collection, follow-up , recommendation
¢ Policy on Periodic Evaluation of Academic Standing and all other (existing and new) academic quality mechanisms
¢ QEP (review for compliance, monitoring, follow-up and drafting revisions)
¢ Academic Representation of the university (meetings, preparation, and presentation)
¢ Ranking, Standards and Accreditations
¢ Ranking (review, assess, prioritize, plan, schedule, follow-up, as per the policies and standards)
¢ Standards (review, assess, amend, check for consistency, compliance, and draft)
¢ Accreditations (SACS, MOE, AACSB, )
¢ Assessment
¢ Students (assessment, retention, tutoring, advising and evaluation)
¢ Courses (CERs (Design, follow-up, completion and reporting)
¢ Faculty (student evaluations of faculty, administration assessment and evaluation)
¢ Chairs (Assessment and Evaluation)
¢ Deans and Associate Deans (Assessment and Evaluation)
¢ Programs (OAPs meetings, plans, follow-up, setup and reviews)
¢ School (Mission, vision, strategy, message, marketing, operational objectives, staffing, programs, curriculum, faculty and assessment)
¢ University (Academic Assessment, mission, vision, strategy, message, marketing, operational objectives, staffing, programs, curriculum, and faculty)
¢ University (Academic Assessment, mission, vision, strategy, message, marketing, operational objectives, staffing, programs, curriculum, and faculty)
¢ New Programs e.g., Data Analytics/EMBA (plans, curriculum, scheduling, compliance, preparation, reviews, follow-ups, write-ups, communications, marketing and faculty recruitment)
¢ Faculty and Adjuncts
¢ Faculty (recruitment, candidates, schedules, loads, reviews, write-ups, assessment, resignation, lay-offs, terminations)
¢ Adjunct (hiring, forms, qualifications, CVs, and assessment)
¢ University Documentation such as Faculty Handbook, Catalogues, Student Handbooks and Policies and Procedures (review, revise, update, propose, draft and communicate
¢ Forms, requests, appeals, integrity and policy compliance
¢ PRs (checking, review, budgeting, prioritization, and compliance)
¢ HR requests (business, professional development and vacations)
¢ Appeals
¢ Ethics, Grievance, and Honor Council decisions and appeals
¢ Grade Appeals
¢ Incomplete appeals
¢ Withdrawal requests and appeals
¢ FTOs review, preliminary recommendations, filing, transmission, and follow-up
¢ Speaker forms (review and recommend)
¢ Grade Inflation (review, summarize, propose)
¢ Pedagogy (planning, scheduling, review, follow-up, ambassadors, and monitoring)
¢ University Research and Creative Work (revised policy, reviews, assessment, monitoring, funding, scheduling, and FTOs)
¢ Faculty Promotions (new policy, revisions, reviews, and assessment)
¢ Innovation (strategy, policy, plans, schedules, priorities, monitoring and follow-up)
¢ Admission (messages, events, participation, reviews and assessment)
¢ Conferences and events (responding, planning, prioritization, preparation, communications and presentations)
