Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Role Objective:

To provide specialized structural engineering expertise for EPC plant construction projects in accordance with ADNOC standards, international codes (ACI, AISC, BS, Eurocodes, API, ASCE), and project-specific specifications. Ensure safe, economical, and constructible designs that meet the requirements of oil & gas industrial facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Design & Engineering
  • Prepare, review, and validate detailed engineering calculations, structural analysis, and design for foundations, pipe racks, equipment supports, storage tanks, blast-resistant buildings, and other industrial structures.
  • Ensure compliance with ADNOC codes, standards, and guidelines (ADNOC-COPs, GDLs, Specifications).
  • Develop load combinations (dead load, live load, wind, seismic, blast, thermal, equipment loads, piping loads, crane loads).
  • Perform structural modeling using STAAD. Pro, ETABS, SAP2000, SAFE, and Tekla Structures.
  • Review vendor drawings and ensure structural interfaces are coordinated with mechanical, piping, electrical, and instrumentation disciplines.
  1. Construction Support
  • Provide technical support to site execution teams during civil/structural construction and resolve design/site issues (RFI, NCR, Technical Queries).
  • Review and approve shop drawings, bar bending schedules (BBS), and structural steel fabrication drawings.
  • Ensure proper implementation of QA/QC procedures, material specifications, and ITPs for civil works.
  • Support HSE compliance in civil activities, ensuring safe execution and constructability.
  1. Project Management & Coordination
  • Participate in design review meetings (3D model review, HAZOP, HAZID, constructability workshops).
  • Coordinate with PMC, Client (ADNOC), and Third-party certifying authorities for approvals.
  • Monitor progress of civil/structural deliverables as per engineering schedule (S-curves, progress reports).
  • Interface with geotechnical, architectural, piping, and mechanical teams to finalize foundation and structure designs.

  • Ensure compliance with:
  • ADNOC standards & specifications
  • ACI 318 / AISC 360 / API 650 & 620 / ASCE 7 / BS 8110 / Eurocodes
  • UAE Fire & Life Safety Codes
  • Local UAE authority regulations
  1. Documentation & Reporting
  • Prepare structural design reports, calculation sheets, material take-offs (MTO), and cost estimates.
  • Issue structural drawings, general arrangement drawings (GADs), and detail design deliverables.
  • Maintain as-built documentation, design change notes (DCNs), and engineering transmittals as per EPC workflow.

Desired Candidate Profile

Qualification & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering .
  • 10–15 years’ experience in EPC Oil & Gas / Petrochemical projects, with minimum 5 years in ADNOC projects.
  • Strong expertise in structural design software (STAAD. Pro, ETABS, SAP2000, SAFE, Tekla, AutoCAD, Navisworks).
  • Proven experience in design of foundations, pipe racks, tank farms, industrial buildings, and offshore/onshore structures.
  • Familiar with blast-resistant design and seismic analysis for industrial facilities.
  • Knowledge of ADNOC standards, ITPs, QA/QC procedures, HSE requirements in plant construction.

  • Strong technical expertise in structural analysis and design.
  • Thorough understanding of EPC workflow (FEED, Detailed Design, Procurement, Construction, Commissioning).
  • Familiar with interface management between civil, mechanical, piping, and electrical teams.
  • Ability to review and interpret complex construction drawings and specifications.
  • Strong problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills.
