The Role
• Reporting into the CEO of SMSCMC (Saudi Maintenance Supply Chain Management Company) the Supply Chain Director will hold primary responsibility for delivering customer solutions against designated programmes, enhancing the supply chain infrastructure, negotiating with customers and vendors, improving the end to end supply chain process and establishing and meeting KPIs
• The Supply Chain Director sits on the SMSCMC Management Committee and as such has additional responsibility for developing and enacting the agreed company strategy.
• The Supply Chain Director will lead the supply chain organisation across multiple locations in Saudi Arabia and beyond
• A critical element of the role will be the effective implementation and maintenance of a supply chain excellence culture within the company which delivers existing business and supports the pursuit and capture of new business opportunities.
• Requirement to establish and develop, in conjunction with the relevant functions, the supply chain team ensuring it has the skills, capabilities, competences and experience required.

• The job holder will be responsible for the management and delivery of the following:
• Effective development, leadership and implementation of a supply chain strategy which enables the business to:
• Deliver the company strategy and underlying objectives thereby satisfying customer and financial performance targets.
• Develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures and measurement criteria necessary to drive a consistent, disciplined and controlled approach to project delivery.
• Establish an optimised organisational design, supporting the delivery of supply chain activities.
• Coordinate the input from and integrate supporting functions (Commercial and Procurement, Engineering, Finance, Governance, Business Winning etc.) ensuring supply chain activities are appropriately resourced at all times.
• Grow business with existing and new customers.
• Ensure effective communication of supply chain activities across the business and stakeholder community.
• Experience multi-cultural environment is essential
• An extensive and broad knowledge of supply chain management in the defence and/or commercial sector.
• Experienced in the planning and implementation of large complex projects involving multiple stakeholders
• The job holder will be expected to be pragmatic and flexible in their approach to both management of people and the role. Must be comfortable working across boundaries often found in larger organisations.
• Excellent relationship and stakeholder management skills required including the ability to motivate and inspire others at varying levels
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills are essential.
• The ability to process significant volumes of information and distil and convey key messages in a compelling, user-friendly form is essential. This will include periodic presentations to senior stakeholders
• A commitment to meeting external and internal customer expectations. Excellent behaviours under pressure and a track record of delivering consistently high quality output on time.
• Possess excellent leadership and customer management skills/behaviours and will utilise extensive supply chain experience to provide optimal solutions.
• A commitment to the development and support of others. A recognition and acceptance of the need to develop sustainable, indigenous Saudi national capability in the supply chain. Tolerance and respect for other cultures;
• Initiative and self-motivation are critical characteristics for the role. The job-holder must be able to handle and respond positively to constructive challenge. Equally, the job-holder should be willing to challenge the norm and propose alternatives in a constructive and open manner; and
• Enthusiasm, positivity and a desire to succeed whilst maintaining the highest personal standards. As a Management Committee member the job holder will be expected to set a performance and behavioural example to others.
• Experience of working within a senior management environment and leading a team is desirable.
• A good understanding of the Ministry of Defence, the Armed Forces and other key stakeholders, within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and methods of operation including budgeting and procurement approaches;
• Working within a joint venture environment, particularly featuring significant local and international shareholders;
• Familiarity/comfort with corporate governance and the application of management tools, processes and controls;
• An awareness of and willingness to apply Project Management tools and techniques;
