Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Receive a copy of the manifest summary from the Vessel Foreman prior to vessel operations.
  • Notify the Vessel Foreman of any cargo with “Nil” marks and obtain the agent’s authorization before discharge.
  • Count all cargo being loaded/discharged and prepare the Load Tally Sheet while maintaining continuous tracking during operations.
  • Exchange tally sheets with the agent’s tally clerk during direct delivery operations.
  • Submit completed receive/load tally sheets and ensure the agent submits D/D tally sheets to the shed office for gate pass processing.
  • Record “No agent representative available” on the tally sheet if the agent has not deployed tally clerks.
  • Document all faults and delays reported by the Vessel Foreman, including cause and duration, in the Fault and Delay Sheet.
  • Obtain acknowledgment from the agent representative on the Fault and Delay Sheet and forward documents to the Shed Documentation Clerk.
  • Receive instructions and allocation from the Shed Documentation Clerk and monitor all cargo movements (receipt, issue, delivery).
  • Tally cargo received from the vessel in the yard/shed and prepare the Receive Tally Sheet for processing.
  • Coordinate with forklift operators to categorize cargo in the storage area according to identifying marks.
  • Monitor cargo movement issued to a vessel for export and record details using the Receive/Issue Tally Sheet.
  • Monitor cargo during delivery to consignees and prepare Delivery Sheets.
  • Prepare a delivery sheet for each truck and submit it to the Shed Documentation Clerk for gate pass preparation.

  • Strong accuracy and attention to detail in cargo tallying.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with vessel, agent, and yard teams.
  • Strong documentation, reporting, and record-keeping skills.
  • Understanding of cargo handling processes (receipt, issue, delivery).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Ability to follow port procedures and operational guidelines.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • High Diploma or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in cargo tallying, warehouse operations, or port logistics.
  • Familiarity with vessel-side and yard/shed operations is preferred.
