Job purpose
The TLC is a member of the ILE coaching team reporting directly into Lead Academic Coach. This is a management position that would line manage a team of Teaching and Learning Coaches,
The TLC Manager will work to provide and efficient, effective and innovative academic proposition through effective line management of TLCs and to ensure outcomes are closely aligned with the College Improvement Plan (CIP)
Specific Duties of this post:
Performance manage a team of Teaching and Learning Coaches
Schedule regular 1:1 meetings with all direct reports to monitor progress against the CIP, contractual milestones and key performance indicators
Attend meetings and contribute to all management decision making, discussion forums
Oversee the assessment by the Teaching and Learning Coaches of each member of training staff on content knowledge, teaching ability, technical knowledge, will (dedication to the job), and the associated personalised coaching and training plans of trainers
Support and direct the assessment of training staff content knowledge, work ethics, and effectiveness in fulfilling the responsibilities of their position
Support the training of staff on subject knowledge for services they provide, technical skills, time management, and any other relevant areas indicated by the coach
Manage and support the development of training material for incumbent college staff
Assess the progress of staff against key performance indicators on a Semester basis; and share findings
Identify staff members who are not progressing or not showing willingness to change
Main responsibilities of this post:
Work closely with the ILE senior management team to develop and deliver the strategic objectives of the CBC project with specific leadership responsibilities for teaching and learning
Work collaboratively with ILE coaches in the college to further the improvement agenda
Promote and advance an agenda of academic excellence
Lead the review and evaluation of teaching and learning in conjunction with senior managers.
Evaluates the implementation and impact of professional development and training, for continuous college improvement
To work closely with other members of the team and provide regular updates and report on progress against agreed targets and actions
Develop, promote and engage with all teaching staff in innovative methods of sharing good practice and the sharing of resources
Ensure that documentation supporting teaching, learning and assessment (schemes of work, lesson plans, assessment plans) meet defined standards
Ensure that the colleges approach to teaching, learning and assessment are aligned to the standards defined in SSS Institutional Review
To play an active role in supporting the colleges quality assurance processes for teaching, learning and assessment
To be able to affect change outcomes through influencing and gain buy-in from incumbent staff members
Accepts other duties as assigned by the Lead Academic Coach
Knowledge skills & experience
Minimum Master s degree and above
PhD study is highly desirable
Certified Prince 2, PMP or similar is highly desirable
Knowledge & Experience
Minimum 10 years of developed country experience
Extensive Leadership and management background within an educational setting, ideally in the FE or HE sector
Extensive experience across college operations, specifically related to quality assurance, teaching and learning and/or student services/experiences
Exemplary team work ethics, excellent communication skills and the confidence to influence and negotiate at all levels of the organisation.
Superior interpersonal skills
Superior negotiation skills
Superior Leadership skills
Can apply knowledge about teaching and learning in an education to develop and implement best practice that support delivery of high quality teaching, learning and collaboration.
Recognized by peers as a manager/leader in the field quality assurance and teaching and learning
Knowledgeable about professional development models, powerful professional development designs, and multiple forms of coaching.
Additional Project Requirements
Must be able to read and write an acceptable level of English.
Arabic speakers are highly sought after
Personal Qualities
Ability to work under pressure on a variety of competing projects whilst delivering to agreed deadlines
