Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Technical Engineer – Mechanical to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical systems and a proven track record of working in UAE-based contracting firms for a minimum of 8 years. you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the technical aspects of mechanical systems on large-scale construction projects. From design coordination to authority approvals, your expertise will ensure every stage is executed with excellence and in full compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Review and Interpretation: Review and interpret mechanical design drawings, specifications, and Bills of Quantities (BOQs) for HVAC, plumbing, fire fighting, and other mechanical systems.
  • Design Coordination: Coordinate with consultants, architects, and structural and electrical teams to ensure design compatibility and resolve any technical issues.
  • Drawing Preparation: Prepare and review shop drawings, coordination drawings, and as-built drawings in accordance with project requirements and local authority standards.
  • Compliance and Standards: Ensure strict compliance with project specifications, local codes (including DM, DEWA, DCD, ADDC, etc.), and international standards (such as ASHRAE, NFPA, and SMACNA).
  • Provide technical guidance and support to the construction team during the installation, testing, and commissioning stages.
  • Documentation Management: Handle all project documentation, including material submittals, method statements, and Requests for Information (RFIs).
  • Procurement Support: Work closely with the procurement department to ensure the correct materials and equipment are ordered and delivered according to the project timeline.
  • Meetings and Workshops: Attend and contribute to site meetings, technical workshops, and coordination meetings with consultants and clients.
  • Authority Approvals: Assist in securing authority approvals by ensuring all documentation meets regulatory requirements.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience: A minimum of 8 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with at least 5 years specifically in contracting firms within the UAE.
  • Industry Knowledge: Strong knowledge of mechanical systems for high-rise buildings, commercial, residential, and mixed-use developments.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficient in AutoCAD and other relevant mechanical design software. Knowledge of Revit MEP is a plus.
  • Regulatory Familiarity: Familiarity with UAE authority regulations, including those from Dubai Municipality, DCD, DEWA, and ADDC.
  • Professional Skills:
  • Strong technical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Membership in the Society of Engineers in the UAE is often required and highly valued.
