Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshooting and Repair: Diagnose and repair faults in automation systems, including those related to PLCs, sensors, actuators, and communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, Profibus).
- System Maintenance: Perform routine preventive and corrective maintenance on control systems, ensuring all components are functioning correctly and calibrated according to manufacturer specifications.
- Component Testing: Test and repair electronic and hydraulic governors, control boards, and other automation components in the workshop using specialized test benches and diagnostic equipment.
- Installation and Commissioning: Assist in the installation and commissioning of new or upgraded automation systems under the guidance of a service engineer.
- Documentation and Reporting: Prepare detailed service reports outlining the work performed, the cause of the fault, and any components replaced.
- Safety and Compliance: Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, especially when working on electrical systems. Ensure all work complies with industry standards and client requirements.
Desired Candidate Profile
- Education: A technical qualification or diploma in Electrical, Electronics, or Marine Automation Engineering.
- Experience: A minimum of 2-5 years of hands-on experience as an automation or electrical technician. Experience in the marine, offshore, or power generation industries is a significant advantage.
- Technical Skills:
Strong understanding of industrial control systems, including PLC and SCADA systems.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams).
Familiarity with electronic governors (e.g., Woodward, Heinzmann) and their associated software.
Competent in using multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other diagnostic tools. - General Skills:
Excellent problem-solving skills and a strong analytical mindset.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Willingness to travel frequently for on-site projects.
